In this crazy world we are now living in, this will be a good feature to have for many, many people.
Not block, just blur, with a button to show it in full. You’d still be just a tap away from your solicited nude. 🤩

I think I might start sending blurred images with a “This may be sensitive” overlay just for fun.

Cue the uninformed mass hysteria…and a lot from the “informed” tech crowd here. Just unreal.
I like that it's system-wide (at least for Apple features)... but if an explicit image comes over iMessage it's probably unsolicited, or you are doing it wrong. Probably shouldn't use any system that also automatically uploads to the cloud for archive.
I wonder if they’re gearing towards some sort of privacy & protection or censorship announcement again outside of the iOS 17 reveal. While not exactly related, it seems the new sticker creation in iMessage doesn’t allow you to create nude stickers.
When fiddling around with it today with my SO, my pre-existing images saved don’t even show as an option when sesrching through Pictures. Some pictures downloaded from web and AirDropped from her seem to slip through into the Album search but even so they still weren’t selectable.
Seems however it functions the line is drawn at any private part showing whether male or female. Although, it can be tricked by editting the images and censoring/covering those parts to some capacity. Ran some tests with my device, she w: hers, and had a friend do so with whatever he personally keeps since we found it kind of funny at first.
Not the most interesting of stories here but the thought that they’re putting some focus into consentual content/media delivery may be of interest to some out there in the world.

God please save us from all those boobs and wieners! Now show us dead bodies and heads rolling from point blank headshots! Cause god forbid gore and dead bodies be listed in Communication Safety protocol

My guess is if the person is in your contacts it would be considered expected. That's how I would code it anyway.
Nope. I would only want one person in my contacts (my spouse) sending me explicit photos.
Well, at the very least they are opt-in. So all good. Things would take a U turn if this is opt-out or doesn’t even have a setting at all. Adults still is the majority population after all.
Well, perhaps an option in the contact whether to permit it or not would be the right compromise.
Can't help but think an Apple employee(s) who uses Tinder must've gotten tired of receiving unsolicited nudes from creeps and made it his/her/their mission to come up with a solution to block them.
You are opting in to the notifications but you can't opt out of the spying. That happens 24/7.
About time. Never understood those folks that feel the need to take a knob photo and message it to a stranger or near stranger. I mean do they do that in public when they see a person they like?

Hopefully there will be an API for this for third party apps so women will no longer be subjected to unsolicited duck pics.
