Additional Notes

To get the beta over-the-air:
  1. Enable Beta Updates (Settings > General > Software Updates > Beta Updates)
  2. Make sure you’re signed into the right Apple Account
  3. Select which beta you’d like to receive (public/developer beta)
  4. Hit "Back" and pull down to refresh
  5. Back up to a computer or to iCloud
  6. Install the beta
If you no longer wish to receive beta updates:
  1. Turn off the Beta Updates (you can also sign out of your Apple Account to reset this setting)
  2. Wait for the next public release or follow the guide below to go back to a release build
Troubleshooting: If the beta doesn’t show up on your phone, try turning on airplane mode, then turning it back off, or restart your device.

How to install using a Mac?
  1. You’ll need the Xcode beta itself or a MobileDevice.pkg somebody extracted from the beta (click with two fingers or control-click), then choose Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/Resources/Packages. - this will work on older Macs that do not support the latest macOS or Xcode betas)
  2. Back up to your Mac or to iCloud in case you need to go back to another version
  3. Hold down Option, then click on ‘Check for Update’/‘Restore iPhone...’ and select the IPSW file you downloaded from the Apple Developer site. Note: You must be connected to the internet to complete the restore.
  4. Enter your iPhone passcode if you’re prompted to do so.
Notes/Tips:
  • Always keep a backup in case you need to restore your phone
  • Restoring wipes your settings and all data on your iPhone
  • You only need to reinstall MobileDevice.pkg if your Mac stops recognizing your iPhone
  • There is no MobileDevice.pkg equivalent to iTunes for PC which would require a new iTunes to support new/beta iOS
  • Upgrading to a newer iPhone? You can update using your Mac before setting up the phone

Why don't you install it and find out for yourself?
Because I just got done wiping and reinstalling OS's on all my devices to have a clean install as the Beta's from Last Summer and all that followed were marred so horribly by crappy performance on my devices I've given up on Apple QC. Only hoping this may be more performance and bug fixes given the lack of features.

There hasn't been one single feature outside of the flashlight that I have found to be worthwhile in the new OS's from Apple this go round. AI is just awful.

What device(s) have you been seeing stutter on?
iPhone 16 Pro Max only. 15 PM does some, but mainly the 16 when swiping home out of an app that is located in a folder. Also see screen stutter when scrolling sometimes in things like safari or FB. Cheers

This isn't a beta though. Absent any groundbreaking bugs, this is what is going to be released presumably next week. RCs do not have the additional beta files. The feedback app is tied to the profile, so if you install the RC and turn off beta updates, the feedback app will disappear.

Agreed - but they may do another update file to the RC by week's end or next week. I'm waiting as 6 days won't kill me. Just hoping to hear good things!

This has been happening since November (at least) and it pisses me off…have reported it in this forum a few times already. Also just opened an issue on the feedback assistant (FB16378991)

Do the RC and the final version end up being the same size (once installed)? In the old days the beta release were bigger due to debugging code, and feedback code. So how does that all work today?

Same file these days. Feedback is tied to the profile selected in software update.

Still can't remove stickers from emoji keyboard.. ugh
Maybe I don’t exactly understand what you mean, but I can tap the “+” next to the keyboard and then select “Stickers” and remove any unwanted stickers. This also removes them from the emoji keyboard.

I think that might be the hardware defect of some of the 16P screens (touch). You should have it replaced if you still can
I might, my screen lag and keyboard lag is driving me mad, it’s like a delay sometimes when typing

Prior to 18.2 / Genmoji, stickers wouldn’t stay in the frequently used emoji category like they do now. It would be nice to keep stickers without deleting, but also not have them permanently in the emoji keyboard (not the sticker section).

Ah yeah, ok. Agreed, the new behavior is pretty lame.

Email still broken. When tapping an email notification, the expected result is going straight to the email. Actual result is it goes to the inbox and freezes. Wait a few seconds, then you can look at the email. It wasn't like this in 18.0, but I also don't remember when it broke. 16 Pro Max
