Do you have the mail app contact photos and category view enabled? If so, can you test with both of them disabled?
Turned it off just now. However it seems to be on by default, so I assume it’s been this way for several iOS versions. That would mean that it’s worked before with it on. But you never know. It may work. Thanks for the idea.

UPDATE- same thing….dang

I see them myself in day to day usage on an iPhone 16 Pro with a fresh install as new of iOS 18.3 beta via the ipsw.

At times, iOS 18.x acts as if low power mode is enabled and the stutter fest that is.

Granted, iOS 18.3 beta 2/3 and the RC are better, there are still stutters and dropped frames in certain repeatable cases.
I wish Apple would fix their damn software! And thank you for contributing. Will be skipping any more Apple devices for the next year as I’m unsure if this is the company for our household anymore based on the poor software. There really isn’t a reason why Apple shouldn’t have better quality control when they own every aspect of the experience. #CanTimmeh

Tried this too and no change for me either. This issued started for me on 18.2. I have a 13 mini. Extremely annoying! And very strange not everyone can replicate.

To the extent it might make a difference, I have two mail accounts, one exchange and one gmail.

Sometimes the best updates are the ones that just silently fix a bunch of small little bugs. Personally, I prefer stability over excitement when it comes to my most important electronic device.

This 100%! Don’t get me wrong, I like exciting too, but I really enjoy these updates that set the groundwork for the rest of the updates throughout the iOS version. Now 18 feels very solid, and any additional features added later will have a solid foundation.

This is on “automatic” and been seeing this since the last few no -beta versions, come on Apple, what is it, light or dark mode, pick a theme?

Mail - Badge and AutoUpdate seem to be working - YES!. Manual refresh is not working at all. When I have an iCloud email notification and click on the notification, it takes me to the inbox. Works fine for Outlook and Proton Mail apps.

Notifications - The issue with persistent notification banners is fixed, HOWEVER, I am now occasionally getting duplicate banner notifications. One right after the other.

AI > Playground - When doing a request, if the name of an object is not American English, am getting “language not supported” error. The words can even be in Webster. My request: Black Shiba Inu running in the snow.
Another issue is some requests will get a cannot do … error.

Apple stock keyboard - showing odd lagging. I replace with GBoard and no lag.

Spell Check and Grammar checking/correction still suck.

More to come …

Is the annoying color shift fixed in the RC?

The bug with screenshots from Apple Watch not showing up in iPhone Photos is still there, dammit…

These updates really are not solving more than they introduced with the new OS. Honestly give us iOS 17 and watch os on the current hardware at this point. It’s buggy. I tried 18.3 and it’s just not good Apple. You’re going down hill so quickly it feels like.

I don't know when it happened (i.e. might not be this beta, or could have been the MacOS beta) but I noticed today that all my contacts and contact groups were duplicated.

I used the "remove duplicates" option at the bottom of the list which sorted out the contact duplicates, but the duplicate groups had different members in each one. Using MacOS that was easy to solve by dragging the contacts around.

If you have a specific issue then what is it?
If you're just done with iPhone and looking to switch then we all wish you good luck.

It just seems like you're complaining here and derailing the thread and not contributing in any way. Threatening Apple here is pointless as they don't base their software pipeline on people’s grievances here.

We get it. Move on.

it is funny they auto enable Apple Intelligence on 15.3 and iOS 18.3, they wanna crank up those adoption rates.

I turned it right off :p

Feel like gambling with iOS 18.3 RC on my 16+ and mini7 and seeing how performance fares

Found a weird bug with Apple Maps on 18.3RC iPhone 15PM …Driving home and it routed me an extra 5 - 6 miles to avoid tolls….however, I left that option (avoid tolls) unchecked in Apple Maps.

I'm noticing much bigger battery usage by Home & Lock Screen on 18.3 RC (and 18.3 PB3) than on 18.2.1
It used to be around 12% average and now it's goes up to 30%, didn't go below 25%. I did not change any settings since then.

Edit: Forgot to write that it’s a 14 pro

No issues here. 5% for the last 24 hours on a 16PM.
