Anyone having issues with share hotspot? When I share hotspot with my laptop, the laptop gets an IP of 192.0.0.2 and the router 192.0.0.1...but that's not private IP landscape of 192.168.x.x. I want to be sure if it's my phone carrier issue or not.

RCS finally works at my work wifi again! I don't remember which beta it was but one of the earlier ones broke RCS over my work wifi. Seems to be working fine after installing 18.5b1

EDIT: I spoke too soon. It just reverted to SMS. Does anyone know if there's anything I can tell my network admin to check for the wifi.

Did you reset network settings on the phone?

"Tap to wake" even worst on this beta than previous ones. Sometimes I have to tap 3 times for screen to wake. Very very annoying!!

Yep, already tried that. iOS just doesn't like the wifi at my work for RCS. It worked fine when RCS was first released and then one of the updates broke it. It sometimes works but majority of the time it doesn't.

Another feedback sent until this is fixed!

I reported this bug previously with 18.4 beta 3. Previously reported Issue # FB16841761 - now FB17103627. This was fixed on 18.4 beta 4, RC, RC2 and 18.4.

Now, it's back with 18.5 beta 1.

During notification using AirPods 3 or AirPods Pro 2, when I use Australian Voice #4, Siri's speech rate is 1.5x or 2x normal - very fast. However, when I switch to British Voice #1, the voice speed is normal.

This seems to happen only with Australian Voice #4.

Firmware for iPhone 14 pro went down from 3.51.06 to 3.51.04 and Carrier from 63.0 to 63.5

Both of these issues are pretty much normal. A 1st beta is typically forked from an older previous version of the build before. Usually a 2nd beta brings it back up to current status. I would expect B2 to have the modem, carrier, etc back up to the current 18.4 level (or better). And regarding the bugs mentioned perhaps those will be corrected too since they were addressed in the later revisions of 18.4.

Finally after this update, I get a notification on my phone that my Apple Watch series 10 is fully charged.
I've always seen this notification when my Series 10 has finished charging. I'm on 18.4 and I still have it.

You can’t tell right away if the battery is the same ore better
Lmao, if this is the way people judge battery life with iOS updates, I see why everyone says battery life is always fine after a quintillion iOS updates when it is actually obliterated.

If you have zero expectations and say “it’s fine” immediately and with everything, then you’ll obviously recommend updating an iPhone Xʀ from iOS 12 to iOS 18 because battery life “is fine”.

Hilarious.

Whoosh... you guys missed the joke on this.

Possibly, but you’d be surprised when it comes to how many people actually mean that.

Battery life plummets after four major iOS updates and they give their good old stuck CD track “battery life is fine, just update”.

Narrator: battery life is obliterated.

This beta is asking me for my password way less frequently than previous few releases.
Previously I had to type in my password several times a day to enable FaceID, which was a pain because I have a very complex password and I don’t wanna type it in public all the time.
18.5 still didn’t ask me to, unless I restart my phone.

I have some wifi signal drop on iOS 18.4. It’s there something similar on iOS 18.5 beta?

I noticed my signal bars looking a little low in 18.4 too at times. It’s never completely dropped out though (I don’t think).

Might improve in 18.5 but I’m definitely not jumping on the beta just for that. It feels minor as long as it still works.

I think the beta has a lower modem firmware so it should be more reliable I’d bet.

Yes, 18.5 beta 1 has an older modem firmware compared to the 18.4 release; 18.5 beta 2 should rectify that.
