FWIW, when I had issues in Beta 2 with icons not switching from dark to light by time of day (showing "blank icon" icon), I was able to "reset" by editing the Home Screen and toggling "Small / Large", which will show the blanks, then refresh the entire set of screens and folders.

That’s probably because if Apple didn’t do it, a lot of the devs never would do it for branding reasons.
