Anyone tried the M4 iPad with the 18.0.1?

My M4 is on the 18.1 beta, but out on IPSW.me I am seeing a download for the 11 in / iPad Pro M4 for 18.0.1.

Wow after 2pm, Tim must have made it in after all, now they can drop beta 6 at 3pm!!
They really dropped the 18 fix in the “last minute”, what’s going on in the giant UFO. All signs they are definitely struggling more than they care to admit to keep it under wraps. Well at least they did it in the right order, next challenge is to get out 18.1 in a smooth successful way to save face. Tim have to sleep at the office, and then loads of caffeine 🤪

JMO but I think it's too soon for the RC next week now, especially with us getting 18.0.1 they won't put two updates out within 9 days of each other

You may be correct. If this addresses the major issues then they have time to further refine 18.1 a little more and relieve some of the urgency of the items this one addresses.

Yea I mean who knows what Apple will do, but it feels like 18.1 is a landmark update for them, and they will defer it until it's really ready (or so I hope).

To the contrary: 18.1 is such a landmark (and so much marketing of the new phones has been predicated on Apple Intelligence) that they want/need to get it out as soon as possible. 18.0.1 was merely the missing link to getting it out: they needed to have a stable platform for people to move from 18.0 to 18.1 (which is the “real” 18.0).

Full steam ahead, I say!

I will be very surprised if we see iOS 18.1 beta 6 Friday. Most likely Monday and possibly RC seeing Apple wants it out asap.

Now for iOS 18.2 betas! 😁

My M4 was already fine on 18, I believe the bug was caused by upgrading to 17.7 and then upgrading to 18, but either way my M4 upgraded to 18.0.1 fine also.

According to ChatGPT, these are the instances Friday betas have happened.

1. iOS 9 beta 3 – Released on Friday, July 10, 2015.

• This was an unusual release as it was timed before the weekend, possibly to push a new feature or fix issues before a developer conference the following week.

2. iOS 7 beta 6 – Released on Friday, August 15, 2013.

• Apple pushed this release earlier than expected to address a critical issue.

3. iOS 12.4 developer beta 6 – Released on Friday, July 12, 2019.

• This was another example of a Friday release, although not common, likely to prepare for an imminent public release.
