Might not come until after 19.0 beta
WWDC25 is still roughly 3 weeks away. I don't see us going that long without another beta track. I'd assume we'd see 18.6b1 next week maybe? Then the typical 2 week window for the 1st point beta, and then I'd say we get 18.6b2 a day or so after we see 19b1. We're usually always testing the 'point 6' update by the time the next version comes out.

I think our next dearest beta will be the 19…
They wouldn't go that long without beta testing the next release.. It's very likely we'll see 18.6b1 next week, possibly even this week. It might be 'boring' to everyone here, but they're always going to have a beta cycle going even if it's in place just for future security/bug fixes. Won't see any new updates, but bugs will still be (mostly) addressed.

they did last year... 17.6 beta 1 came mid-June

While that’s happened with a couple releases on iOS 18, they released the 18.3 RC on a Tuesday and released it to the public 6 days later. Last year, 17.2, 17.3, 17.4, 17.5, and 17.6 were released 7 or fewer days after the RC. It only ever takes more than a week if they need a second release candidate.
I get that, I was meaning about a week (more business week, so usually around 5 days or so). That’s what I was meaning, sorry if I didn’t clarify that well.

Some interesting Google searches to keep in mind from 2024.....

17.5 public - release May 13th
17.6 beta 1 - release June 17th
** 4 betas and a RC (2 week gap between beta 1 and 2) over the course of the testing period.
17.6 public - release July 29th

On the other hand, the first 16.6 beta was released the day after 16.5 was released to the public. So either today or next month, take your pick lol.

I think they’re going to try to get Apple Intelligence out to China quickly though (Gurman says 18.6 will bring that). We’ll see.

Yeah I'm thinking Apple Intelligence in China will be the driver for getting this release out sooner rather than later.

Just a reminder that the only rumored update for 18.6 is going to be support for Apple Intelligence and more languages in mainland China.

With the delayed features of Siri, this means iOS 18.3 was pretty much feature complete, adding extra Visual Intelligence options to 18.2. 18.4 added more languages for lots of countries. 18.5 added Vietnamese. 18.6 is going Chinese. There have been other small tweaks, some bug fixes, and lots of security patches, but 18.3 was pretty much the final evolution.

I’m not banking on 18.6 being a big update, though it could add several bug fixes and stability improvements. I’m guessing if we see anything biggish for 18, it will probably be 18.7 after 19 is in beta and announced. Perhaps they’ll have the Apple Intelligence features ready and will integrate them into 18.7. Who knows.

If Apple follows its release pattern, iOS 18.7 will be released on the same day as iOS 19, for people who don't want to upgrade to iOS 19 on day one. So, I see iOS 18.6 as the last chance to make any significant changes to iOS 18. Once September rolls around, everything new will be for iOS 19 to encourage you to install the new version.

I think with iOS 19 coming in just a few short weeks, any speculation for iOS 18 will probably slow down a lot...
Especially with WWDC ‘s OS revamp, particularly look and feel of something new seems way more appealing. This years intelligence agenda was unexciting to say the very least. It’s like the movie symbolism of just staring trying to stay interested instead of dozing off. ;)
