Notice how Apple is clearly by these notes showing them as synced except what is unique to AI (18.1 seeds)
Apparently they are synced according to the release notes. So here’s to hoping to weekly updates to keep them aligned.
Note Apple approached the SDK notes for MacOS 15.1 beta 2 and 15.0 beta 6 in the same manner. 15.1 only details AI specific changes.

That doesn’t mean that we’re getting 18.1 betas when 18.0 betas come out though. Which was the point I was making. That we can still be having 2 weeks between 18.1 betas, or could still have longer gaps, depending on the AI testing needs.

All this proves is when we get 18.1 betas, they’re gonna not be left behind on the bug fixes for 18.0 - which makes sense.

Edit: actually, it’s not fully 18.0 Beta 6 in the 18.1 Beta 2, as the photos app’s Album section on 18.1 b2 is the 18.0 b5 version, not b6 version. (Also this is confirmed in the front page article about what’s new in the betas).

So, not fully synced.

Definitely interesting. It’s basically only partially synced because most beta 6 changes are there

I don't know what you mean. My albums section in iOS 18.1 beta 2 is exactly the same as in iOS 18.0 beta 6. I can also create new folders with the albums, and they look the same as in the photo in the article about what's new on this page.

The article on the front page states the change is for 18.0 B6, not for both. My 18.1 B2 looks like the previous beta version, my 18.0 B6 is the new way (as they state in the line about how it looks in prior versions).

Edit: attached how it looks on 18.1 beta 2, which is the way it was in 18.0 B5 and earlier, which is different to B6 (excuse my attempts to hide some personal parts of the image).

When I read you, I was looking at videos and articles, but I didn't see any photos in the new way, and indeed, that of beta 6 is different. Even so, the change is small, they only move the photo to the left instead of to the right as we have it as I have seen. Thank you for clarifying it for me.

It’s not just the text that’s moved, but also the thumbnails are just one image, not multiple.

It’s clearly still not in sync with 18.0 betas tho, as I stated.

What can one say the interface differences are minor versus enabled features. Apple SDK notes are still not detailing whats fixed/changed against iOS/IPadOS and MacOS with xx.0 vs xx.1 seeds. Its like they reverted back in b6 of the iPhone call status where b5 you could click on the name to get info and click right it dial that number, now its back to clicking the name numbers calls, and now the info mark is back far right. I Imagine that each of the OS's is being tweaked in a minor way as far as the GUI to see how it works better or not. On MacOS the writing tools was all there on beta 2 vs earlier beta as far as the GUI usage some was greyed out, but MacRumors talked it up all mostly against iOS. ;)

It’s still clearly not the same build as 18.0 b6 though. My point still stands.

Most likely. I dont think they will follow 18.0 on the weekly, but who knows. It would be weird for the 18.0 weekly update to fix bugs and the 18.1 beta have to wait another week for those fixes.
I've seen a lot o comparison's to 18 & 18.1, and it's totally plausible that any bug fixes applied in 18 can just be ported into 18.1, too. Most notable differences are going to be API's related to Apple Intelligence.

Oh yeah totally agree, just gonna be a little odd seeing the updates being on 18.0 an entire week before the 18.1 gets them. I guess just the results of having 2 betas running at the same time.

IMHO is quite plausible that was some security/localization issues with the very first AI dev seed that caused it to skip parallel releases last week. We did see how devs could install second iOS example in more locations than first beta. But it also gave some a bit more frustration when it wasn't released in parallel with other beta cycle of 18.0/15.0 betas last week also.

That is true. Seems like it would at least get whatever fixes that 18.0 gets. We shall see if 18.0 beta 7 is released on Monday if 18.1 beta 3 is released as well.

Beta 7 on Monday with hopefully some optimization in form of heat management and battery life !
Let’s hope iOS 18.1 beta 3 Monday. However I’m 💭 . 😂
And also that the upcoming b7/b3 SDK notes reflect the same as that last Mondays seeds (b6/b2), but more optimized with this next release.

Even with minor GUI changes that are running somewhat in sync with each other, so no one feels left out. ;)

It’s very likely an “a” build, and only a few builds away from what the public will get in September, so I certainly hope so.

We should still expect DB8 the following week, then a two-weeks break and then the RC right after the new iPhones are announced. That still leaves Apple plenty of alphabet characters to play with. 😉

Right, but we shouldn’t expect material changes or build number differences. iOS 17 for comparison is below, and all are a builds.

B7: 21A319a
B8: 21A326a (7 builds newer)
RC: 21A329 (3 builds newer)
