I think they should start testing more AI features that rely on Private Cloud Compute and not leave it to 18.2. The AI features that are in the current .1 betas work okay, they are well integrated and the optimization need to be done in the cloud or during local LLM training. But they need to test the user facing integrations. That’s why I think there will be more Apple Intelligence features introduced in the new .1 betas which will come out today / tomorrow. The .0 build is on track to become golden in the coming days so I don’t expect many changes, just refinements.
Isn‘t private cloud compute scheduled for 2025? Thought it’s way off.

I don't have high hopes Genmoji or image playground will be here by December. Maybe, but I have a feeling a lot of that stuff is all next year. 18.4 is suppose to be the big release of most of the AI stuff from WWDC.

I will wager that by the end of December we will have both. The only thing that has been explicitly stated for 2025 is the Siri stuff, a/k/a the Big Kahuna.

I’m going to look into my crystal ball and dream that today will be another triple release day. 17.6.2, 18.0b7, and 18.1b3.

Until a few weeks ago, I never thought Apple would do that, but they did, so I can hope for the same today.

And, looking back at the introduction of the “beta picker” in Settings>General>Software Update one can speculate that that is why they did that.

But look how long it's taken just to get the writing tools. The Siri stuff in 2025 is rumored to be far into 2025. I wouldn't count on Genmoji and Imagine Playground to be here before 2025. Not in a full release. I don't see those being a part of 18.1 because they would already be there if they were going to be. 18.2 at the very earliest, but when are they gonna start beta testing that? I think they will need more than a month and half if 18.1 is October. Seems like a fast beta testing season for such a big update.

Apple absolutely HAS to get this stuff out. Google’s release last week of additional features on the Pixel only amplified that. That is the driver here.

Genmoji isn't happening on 18.1.

It’s kinda „stupid“ that Apple holds back those things like Image Playground or Genmoji, those things are most likely the biggest sell points for younger consumers…
We will see, and also the photo magic wand not coming with 18.1 is kinda lame.

The only thing i can imagine is, that those things all come together with world wide release next year + when Apple Intelligence is released in the EU too.

Strange enough in my eyes their roadmap

Did Apple confirm that these features will not be in 18.1 or are you guys just guessing?

Maybe, but Apple's been behind the 8 ball on AI this entire time. Apple's never been about rushing. It has to be right before it's released. Google push to have an event before Apple because they needed a win. Usually they are just in aftermath of the Apple event, so they wanted to be talk. This can't really changed Apple's plans.

I don’t believe there has been any specific statement that PCC is going to be launched in 2025. They just said that some AI features require frontier LLMs that cannot be run locally and that the most of these feature will be released throughout this and the next year. I think PCC is already running and they need to start testing it.

They are “speculating” based on zero information from Apple.
What's the title of the thread? Just as everyone else is guessing. These are very educated guess. 18.1 isn't just going to magically add Genmoji and Image Playground in the middle of the beta cycle. Dont think we have any history to back up they would.

But until now, Apple hasn’t been punished for being behind. Now they are. The Board will not be happy about this. Bad enough that Berkshire Hathaway dumped such a significant chunk of shares.

They will be burning the midnight oil to get the features they intimated would be out in CY 2024 out in CY 2024. They’ll still do it right, but that means development in other areas may suffer.

We have zero history to back up anything related to AI. Have we ever had a prolonged period with two distinct betas running. Nope.

Uncharted waters.

I guess we will see. I don't think AI is important to consumers as people think. As a tech guy myself, I am not jumping at the gun to get it. Not saying this changes anything at all for Apple, but Googles event rushing Apple seems very, very unApple.
