As one would expect from a beta 2 of a pretty radical point release. I've now lost Shortcuts (crashes on launch) and lockscreen widgets (they flickered and went away).

I think he was implying that the beta this week would be roughly the same as the RC, minus any information about the iPhone 16's and also minus the beta logging. Probably has some of the Battery optimizations, though.

I noticed that too. Usually he saves most of his stuff for his Sunday newsletter. Guess there was too much to do that this week. Odd for the last week in August, usually one of the slowest news weeks of the year.

He was very vague with his statement for a reason. He was somewhat right if you nail him on this „no more visible changes“ - but this is also clear, it’s the standard with late beta versions.
All his RC and whatever talk is mostly bs.

I was thinking exactly the same. Apple might be just too caught up with their AI stuff in 18.1 beta 3. 🤷🏻‍♂️ They could probably release iOS 18.0 DB 8 earlier separately, but then the 18.1 crew would go mad.
