No. I signed in to my iCloud so it got all my messages, pics etc back. I meant I didn’t pick an iCloud backup to restore to. I just signed in and iCloud downloaded back all my things.

I turned on messages in the cloud and once it synced my photos started populating in the tabs under contacts and they are all there but some random ones show a blank square but if you tap it it is there. So that’s something. Wonder if this will settle down my heating issues.
Are you syncing iMessages with iCloud or do you keep them on your phone? I’m using syncing with iCloud. It says at the top a progress bar when I force sync it. Eventually the bar goes away when it’s done.
Today’s new problem though is I sent a photo to a contact and it doesn’t show in the gallery immediately like it used to. I synced with iCloud and did all the things but no use.
There’s so many threads online about iMessage issues like this, I think it’s an indexing bug between iMessage and iCloud
Apple support have logs and screenshots from me and said the engineers have similar reports. Doesn’t mean they will fix it but we are not alone
Normally I always just keep them on my phone but I’ve been having this same problem for years each time I get a new phone or update iOS to a major new version. I’ve always had to turn on messages in the cloud in order to force the phone to do the messages indexing. Then I turn it back off after it’s done. Or seems like it’s done.
Anyone notice that in messages when typing out a reply it covers the last message you see in the thread? Like it drops down and you’re typing over it… It seems like it happens when you get to the second line. Super annoying. Thought maybe it was only when you have a custom background but is happening w/out a background as well.
Don’t know why it’s happening for me, I checked my husbands and his is doing it as well
Hi, yes 13 pro here, I'm experiencing lag and stuttering. Not at the point it is unusable, but just bothering. On 26.0, and 26.1b, it's about the same for me.

That is just showing that your settings are set to include the location metadata when uploading photos. It's not saying that the selected photo has a location. You can tap that bubble to change your settings.

I still feel FaceID is kinda slower or weird in this update. Like it works fine but sometimes blazing fast and other times, it flashes the passcode screen for a split second before going thru even tho faceID worked. Didn't see this behavior before or maybe I just didn't notice lol.

Correct. If a photo has a location, it'll be included; if it doesn't have a location, then there's nothing to include.
I find the opposite..... most of the time, my screen off standby drain is significantly lower on 26 vs. 18.x.

Sometimes when I flick to the Home Screen all the icons are blank, but the icon labels are there, just for a fraction of a second, them they all appear.

I know that faceID continuously learns your facial features with adaptive learning and improves the recognition model seamlessly in the background when set up as new for the first time and the more you keep unlocking the phone as it keeps scanning your face, but I feel that 26.0.1 has made faceID a smidge slower or more variable in this update for me. Don't remember having this experience in 26.0 or other versions. Sometimes it goes blazing fast and sometimes it flashes the passcode screen for a split second before letting me thru.
Note that I did just DFU restore my two phones and set them up as new and enrolled in faceID for the first time in the new phones, so maybe that's what I'm experiencing, like FaceID a bit slower as it does adaptive learning for the first time. I'll give it a few days to see if I can be certain of the root cause.

Great to hear it worked. I ended up doing a DFU restore due to eSIM activation issues. And I always do a fresh install with no backups with a new device. It’s impressive how cool the 17 Pro runs and battery life has been good as well. Not sure if the DFU install was what did it but it’s another data point in case someone else has an issue.
