Man my 17 pro max is on its way in the mail, gonna trade in my 15PM but have been holding off on upgrading to iOS 26 until right before I have to transfer data but seeing so many people reporting bugs and battery issues definitely looks concerning lol.

Do you think it’s possible they’ll let me transfer my current iOS 18 to the 17PM once it arrives?

No.

You don't have to update your 15PM before transferring to the 17PM and it will transfer fine. Your 17PM will remain on iOS 26, no way to downgrade it to iOS 18.

Thanks for the clarification!

I just hope once everything gets transferred iOS26 will run smoothly, been seeing a lot of bugs and other issues people are experiencing

It's running fine for me on my iPhone Air. The first day or so after transferring, battery isn't going to be great and may have stuttering while the phone finishes indexing in the background. The more data you have on the phone, the longer indexing is gonna take.

Using CarPlay, any map app (Apple Maps or wayze tried) automatically load and start running when connecting to the vehicle. Prior to ios26, map apps only started when selected as an app in CarPlay.
It seems the launch screen is the mixed Home Screen look with maps and widgets and I can’t find an option to disable it or use a different screen as default. Prior to ios26 the launch screen was the last used app or screen.
Phone gets hot now due to this change while driving, obvious from data use and load from maps running.

I also disabled widgets in my phones CarPlay settings but they still load on the launch screen anyway.

I'm not seeing this and I have 3 Gmail accounts setup in Mail
I have two and both are showing all mail in the inbox including sub folder mail. It also seems like my rules are not all working or randomly working.

I might try to log out and log in to Gmail on my phone to see if it resets anything.

also, if you are running a navigation on google maps, and try to cancel the existing nav and give the address of a new destination though Siri, then it confirms but still loads the existing navigation. I trusted this once, and noticed when I reached the wrong destination. The next time, I tried but checked my phone for the same and it was still wrong. CarPlay is definitely messed up at the moment.
And yes, this direct maps loading thing is happening on mine as well

I think the maps loading is a new feature, there just isn’t a way to disable or change it. Seems typical to Apple forced changes and we’ll have to deal with it until the next point release they add in support to disable or revert that like the mail AI stuff in iOS 18

So the always on Maps in car play is disappointing and hopefully a bug, not feature. I mostly know where I'm going and only need to use GPS once or twice a month.

You should have no problem with the 17PM. That’s what I have, outstanding battery life, very few issues on 26.0.1. I don’t put betas on phones, too critical for me and I’ve been burned in the past. The only prominent issue I have on the 17 is the redrawing of icons and folders on my Home screens. That seems to be common to everyone. I do have the 26.1 beta on my M4 13” iPad Pro and that redrawing is particularly bad, and 26.1 introduced some serious Safari bugs, so I’m very glad I haven’t put this on my phone. I wouldn’t worry at all about your new 17PM, other than the redrawing I’ve had no functional problems whatsoever. Not so for the ipad.

Anyone else not getting missed call notifications and message notifications if the inbound message starts a new thread on 17 pro/iOS 26.0.1?

Not having that issue, but I'm having an issue checking voicemail. Pressing and holding 1 gives me call failed, and checking the other ways, either classic or unified views doesn't work as well. I have to call from another phone to check them. 17 Pro Max using Telus.

I had the same issue a few months ago when I downgraded off the beta to iOS 18. I called the carrier and they sent a push to re-provision the phone and it worked perfectly since then.

I will give that a go, thanks. Gave my carrier a call and now it works.

This morning I had a strange flickering when I turned on the screen. It only happened once, at least for now. I don't know if any of you have noticed anything like this with your 17 Pro.

I’ve restored my 16 Pro Max from the DFU mode and downloaded everything from my iCloud backup again. Everything feels much better now.

16 PM here and ever since upgrading to 26.0.1 it gets noticeably hot- not sure what is going, no gaming nothing intensive on the phone , it's pretty annoying with the heat comes stuttering here and there especially with keyboard be it apple or third party, Swift and Gboard.

This whole liquid glass look is pretty annoying there is no uniform look via apps and widgets even native apple one look a bit odd- liquid glass+ dark mode looks terrible in some cases

I’m on a 16 PM, too, and I’m not experiencing any heat or stuttering. Everything’s been running pretty smooth for me in fact. Maybe make sure all apps are updated? Could be something that specific app is dealing with as opposed to an OS thing? Or maybe try reinstalling from the .ipsw file over itself (not a restore). That tends to help a lot of things. And don’t forget about the indexing and background processes that always happen after any update or upgrade. That tends to lead to heat and slowdowns, but tends to resolve itself after anywhere from an hour to even a day, depending on the apps and data on the phone.

Care to explain more what do you mean by redrawing of icons and folder? Is there an animation lag while swiping between home screen layouts quickly?

If you swipe a home screen the icons disappear and reappear after 1 second, same for widgets. I have the same problem since 26.0 on my 16PM.

wonder if its due to a lack of RAM on 8GB devices. this happens even on all versions and beta?
It’s particularly bad on my 13” M4 iPad Pro—bigger screen bigger icons. On my new 17PM it’s also quite noticeable but less egregious (smaller icons). Feedback Assistant shows it as “more than 10” reports and here it seems to be the most mentioned issue of 26, so it likely affects most devices. It began on all of our devices with 26.0, and continues on 26.1 beta 2 on my iPP. I don’t put betas on my phones so I don’t know what the experience is on the 17s, but from the threads here it seems this continues on the phones as well.
