Additional Notes

To get the beta over-the-air:
  1. Enable Beta Updates (Settings > General > Software Updates > Beta Updates)
  2. Make sure you’re signed into the right Apple Account
  3. Select which beta you’d like to receive (public/developer beta)
  4. Hit "Back" and pull down to refresh
  5. Back up to a computer or to iCloud
  6. Install the beta
If you no longer wish to receive beta updates:
  1. Turn off the Beta Updates (you can also sign out of your Apple Account to reset this setting)
  2. Wait for the next public release or follow the guide below to go back to a release build
Troubleshooting: If the beta doesn’t show up on your phone, try turning on airplane mode, then turning it back off, or restart your device.

How to install using a Mac?
  1. You’ll need the Xcode beta itself or a MobileDevice.pkg somebody extracted from the beta (click with two fingers or control-click), then choose Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/Resources/Packages. - this will work on older Macs that do not support the latest macOS or Xcode betas)
  2. Back up to your Mac or to iCloud in case you need to go back to another version
  3. Hold down Option, then click on ‘Check for Update’/‘Restore iPhone...’ and select the IPSW file you downloaded from the Apple Developer site. Note: You must be connected to the internet to complete the restore.
  4. Enter your iPhone passcode if you’re prompted to do so.
Notes/Tips:
  • Always keep a backup in case you need to restore your phone
  • Restoring wipes your settings and all data on your iPhone
  • You only need to reinstall MobileDevice.pkg if your Mac stops recognizing your iPhone
  • There is no MobileDevice.pkg equivalent to iTunes for PC which would require a new iTunes to support new/beta iOS
  • Upgrading to a newer iPhone? You can update using your Mac before setting up the phone

And I don’t know if it’s because I deleted the entire, default Home controls page in Control Centre and made one from nothing, but my new manually configured Home page didn’t revert to unconfigured buttons with this update/restart.

I had to turn off beta updates to see this available on my iPad that was on 26.1 RC. Very small update. Does not appear for my phone on 26.0.1. I will re-enable beta updates on the iPad when this finishes installing.

11.6 GB full install on my 16 PM.
That’s what it is for my phone, 17PM, now that it’s shown up. It didn’t appear for my ipad that was already on the 26.1 RC until I turned off beta updates. Then it appeared and was a very small, 400+mb, update.

Anybody else’s Apple Intelligence size grow after the update? I think mine was about half this much. Also I have it turned off…. Did it download itself again so there is like 2 downloads of Apple Intelligence now stuck on my device? Will it eventually offload itself? Not planning on using it anytime soon. Would rather have the space.

So, it wasn’t until now that I tried the “proper” Liquid Glass as Apple intended it (had to turn off Reduce Transparency and Increase Contrast).

I am… speechless.

10-15 years ago, if I saw a homemade skin like this on one of those sites like 4PDA or XDA, I’d consider it a low effort hack job by some acne-covered high school “developer”.

For Apple to produce this in 2025 is… astonishing.

  • Yucky “fade in” of a gradient at the top when opening a message.
  • issue remains of slow contact loading when opening message application.
  • Stutters swiping to Home Screen and weird loading of photo in widgets
Ever since Liquid Glass, iOS has been pretty poor and I don’t know why they haven’t fixed it yet - it’s not a great experience on their flagship devices

Yes, it’s a bit shocking for sure. Hopefully in about 5 years time it may have settled down a bit.

I think it looks pretty good but wallpaper choice is definitely going to be a factor.
