Anybody's guess, really -- but possibly not, since Apple is headquartered on the West coast while the outage is mostly on the East coast.

Many Apple tools are probably hosted on the east coast AWS region, as Testflight and other things were affected. If any of their internal tools are there too, this could certainly delay the release.

But they could still technically release and if some people have issues downloading it’ll fix itself by the time AWS is back running properly no?

The day one update for the new iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and Vision Pro will be 26.0.1.

The builds/IPSWs for those were released last Thursday (10/16).

But still, not sure how 26.0.2 fits into this. Assuming today is the RC and 26.1 is released next week, why bother with 26.0.2?
26.0.2 is better than 26.1

Yes but think about it a little deeper, especially a public release of 26.0.2. Most people won't know anything about AWS, they just know stuff isn't working. So the first thing they will do if they don't want to wait is contact support. It puts avoidable pressure on the Apple support team if they wait till AWS is resolved. Assuming these two are even related.

iOS 18.1 RC was released on 21 October 2024 as per ipsw.dev with 7 beta releases.

iOS 26.1 is still on beta 3 and may be getting beta 4 or RC instead.
There were 7 but the 18.1 beta cycle started very early because of AI. 17.1 only had 4 betas before RC.
