I’d like to know if the new CarPlay updates allow you to actually tap on a search result pin (not the list item, the pin on the map). For example, you search “Apple Store” and three pop up. You tap on one of their pins on the map. Right now in 18, nothing happens. In Android Auto, it would select that as the destination. Massive oversight imo

Update: I tested this myself. No, you still cannot select the pins on the map by tapping them 🙄

Really wish they would allow satellite view in CarPlay... Its one of the things I love most about Google Maps

The never ending mapping of cities but never updating it so they have things like look around etc is frustrating.
My entire region in the U.K. must have been mapped for about 4-5 years now without so much of 1 street being added.

Someone pointed out on Reddit that Apple updated their Maps coverage page with a bunch of cities in their DCE section that don’t presently have DCE, including Denver and Phoenix.

I drove with Apple Maps today on the iOS 26 beta and I thought it looked ugly. I’ll have to test it some more. The colors of things just didn’t seem right to me.

You mean with CarPlay?

I’m traveling right now and haven’t had a chance to check CarPlay yet.

Wish they would add routing in Armenia and Georgia (the country, not the state)... but probably that won't ever happen :(

Where is UK Look Around? I swear they completed the whole country with the cameras/vans ages ago already.

Is this new? I fly a lot and I don’t remember getting this type of option for my destination…maybe not…

….and pressing it…the bubble gets bigger, but nothing happens…guessing it’s a new feature.

New detailed POI info when you arrive is a welcomed changed…and sorry…took a pic of the screen as screenshot on the phone didn’t seem to take a pic of the CarPlay screen as usual.

And I’m actually liking the new view that is pulled back more and shows more of the route…and iOS 26 to me looks great on CarPlay and Maps….loving it so far.

Still can't seem to take screenshots of both the phone and CarPlay screen at the same time...oh well. (EDIT: DIDN'T REALIZE I HAD TO TURN ON THE OPTION TO ALLOW CARPLAY SCREENSHOTS IN SETTINGS>GENERAL>SCREEN CAPTURE...FIXED!)

I did do a search for a local store and when I started the route, Maps crashed on me. Routing to pre-selected destinations not affected. Only tried it with this one store, so not sure if it is a persistent (every time you search and try to route to a new place" sort of thing... ;)

I was in dark mode when I started the car and started searching for a POI...and then it switched to light mode. And now I'm seeing some of the contrast issues people have mentioned. But as I said in another thread, that was also the case when they adjusted the colors for Maps a few years ago. Was fixed after the first beta or two.

For CarPlay screenshots, check this out:

“In the Settings app, you can now turn off CarPlay screenshots under General → Screen Capture, so that taking a screenshot on your iPhone does not also generate a CarPlay screenshot while the device is connected to CarPlay.”

I saw it listed as #25 here:

Edit: I just saw that you had figured it out already. 😉🖐️

Any chance they added the option to always show the map in Light mode? I use the phone in dark mode and the map always shows in dark even in the daytime. Which when driving wearing sunglasses makes it pretty much useless. The option to not only stay light, but then change to dark (like Google Maps) at night is something I've suggested as a feature with previous updates.

Pretty sure that’s been an option for a long time? If not, yes…you have the choice between light, dark, and automatic.

For just Maps? Automatic is for the whole device.

I will take a screen shot…in the actual CarPlay menu it comes up as an option just like on the iPhone.

And sorry..:yeah…not an option for Maps on the phone..:I was just talking about CarPlay having its own option.
