The button to activate this just appeared for me on the latest beta, but the app crashed when I clicked it and hasn’t reappeared.
Oh well, next time!

This is so bizarre. This what I see with beta 2.

This is now what I see with beta 3.

Not sure what the hell was happening with iOS 26 and my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I didn't change any other settings. After installing beta 3, the visited places show up.

I gotta give credit to Maps letting you know about weather alerts and routing around them! Pretty satisfied with the option around it too, because it was actually a nicer route than the original, in my opinion! Avoided the weather warning AND construction zones!

But at the same time, I have to say…seeing it bring up a flash flood warning while driving my daughter to a summer camp made my heart jump into my throat.

I've been playing with the Visited Places in the last few days and am underwhelmed by its performance. I don't know what the criteria/threshold for a place to count as I'm missing a lot of places that I went to including restaurants.

At a strip mall that I went to, I was specifically at a bank. The entry that was logged was wrong and yet the replacement list doesn't contain the name of the bank. Ironically, the bank doesn't show up if I were to just search it up. What Apple needs to do is allow me to search for the replacement.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like Google Maps' timeline is much better.

I've found that Maps does not handle very large strip malls/shopping center developments very well. Turn-by turn directions will announce that I've arrived at the main traffic light turn-in, and I have to navigate the serpentine parking lots that don't always connect between building segments to find the true destination store.

For the notifications on delays for daily commutes, will that require an Apple Intelligence capable phone?

Don't see much discussion here. I guess people don't care too much about Apple Maps and Visited Places?

hmmmm...well, I think you need to realize that this is the iOS thread for Maps...so, it's about the beta. And you are on that, so fine.

A) Not sure anyone can answer or advise on the visited places feature...it's new...it's in beta...not sure what else to tell you other than what's in the first post or what Apple says it SHOULD do. I personally haven't used it much, but it is showing where I have been...again, haven't really used it.

B) Your comment about Maps not taking you to a specific spot around/outside a mall after entering a parking lot...this could simply be a data issue. Simply report an error in this case and mark the stores location at the closest outside entrance. It may not have been done by the store owner or another user yet. I know some have mentioned issues around maps stopping routing after entering a parking lot of a destination, but I haven't experienced that yet. Maybe I just haven't entered one big or complex enough.

There is also a very active subreddit for Maps as well that handles more day-to-day questions versus the higher level new features/beta related discussions we have in this thread. You can find that HERE

Interesting observation in Asia…at least in Vietnam and Thailand so far…a lot of drivers using Apple Maps…some Waze…Google Maps of course.

This morning’s driver using Google…but basically ignoring its directions as well.

Does the Visited Places option say how long you spent at each place? I use Google Maps Timeline right now now to track time at clients when I forget to record it manually. Curious if Apple Maps will do this as well.

So...while I'm still recovering from my 3 week trip...Apple Maps worked as expected or better than expected in every country I visited (Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Japan). I didn't actually drive, but used it when in taxis or with the car service provided. Routes all followed whatever the driver was using (Google Maps, Apple Maps, A-Maps in China, etc.)

The only time I felt Google was slightly better was in Japan, but Apple Maps still got us to where we needed to go. And no matter where I am, I still feel Apple Maps is WAY better/cleaner/easier for transit...but that's me. Used it in Japan for all my train travel and of course, being able to use Apple Wallet to walk right through turnstyles in the stations is so easy.

It's new because it wasn't available before. You can announce it on Reddit! I imagine you don't have a screenshot? Is there speed camera ?

Well..I can't believe I don't...but I know I used it from the airport to my hotel the first night since I wanted to track how long it took to get there and make sure the cab driver was following the same route. Traffic/scooters were wild...

Here are some screenshots from Thailand, China and Japan...Singapore is shown above?? Missing Vietnam and Hong Kong...but I did use Maps and everything worked great.

Last few images show comparisons from maps to Google in Japan
