I get this, I placed the gray square for privacy.

I see. I am on the “old” Siri in the EU, so hopefully Apple will fix it in the future betas.

It does. At the top of the shortcut is the automation trigger or triggers.

Now, when you want to add a new action, click in the search bar and you'll get a button at the top labelled "Automation". You can add triggers there. This will turn the shortcut into an automation (or create further automations) as you add them.

It took me a while to work out what was going on, as I suddenly had a load of shortcuts appear with weird names like "Time of day 1" "Focus 3" etc. Turns out that the upgrade has changed all automations into shortcuts with automaton-triggers at the top.

So I renamed them all and put them in a folder called Automations. Of course, Apple already has a sidebar entry for automations, but as they show now as both an automation and a shortcut, I needed to tidy them up. Although confusing, one big advantage is that these automation/shortcut hybrids now sync via iCloud. And they get backed up by my backup-shortcuts shortcut (which is similar to https://www.macscripter.net/t/backup-and-restore-shortcuts/77137).
I notice that you don't get the "Save" check mark top right corner either. I reported that as a bug.

Does anyone else have the problem that you can only search through e-mails that are less than year old?
I keep e-mails for about 7 years. But today I wanted to search for an e-mail which I knew I received last year, but it didn't show up in search results. It turns out that search results now only show e-mails that are newer than 1 year. It doesn't matter if you search through spotlight or directly in the mail app. It is also the same on iOS, macOS and even iCloud.com. In the screenshots, you can see that I received an e-mail about the WWDC25 on June 13th 2025. I can scroll to it in my inbox. I can open it and read everything, but it won't show up in any search results, no matter if you search for content or metadata.
I filed a bug report for this in the feedback app.

Also, a full 1.5 week after installing, my phone still says it is indexing.

There doesn't seem to be much variance in Liquid Glass on the "clear" half of the slider, so that makes me think they're going to add more transparency in future betas.

Yeah, really wish the slider had more extreme maximums. All the way to the right should be basically opaque and all the way to the left should be basically perfectly (almost unusably) clear.

I’m on iOS27 on iPad Pro m4, and it finished indexing a while back. I definitely get search results in Mail search and Siri that are more than a year old. Just asked Siri to look in email to find out when I bought my dishwasher. Turned up an email from 2018.

On an iOS 27 device that has just been fully indexed (took 8 1/2 days), I am able to easily find emails that go back many years without any problem. Same for a MacOS 27 device (am assuming that the mac is fully indexed). A simple search, and a more complex "Siri query" both work just fine and show mail results going back many years. I can't speak to iCloud.com

Question for those who upgraded two devices connected to the same iCloud account:
Does the second device did the indexing too? If so, was it faster than for the first device?
I'm trying to know if there's some kind of shared index between devices (especially for iCloud Drive docs, iMessage etc) or if every device needs to index by itself
Have iOS 27 and MacOS 27 on multiple devices. Each one indexes separately. Once one iCloud device is off the waitlist and on the "new Siri", all associated (eligible) devices seem to be enabled for the new Siri. Indexing on each device makes sense given Apple's privacy strategy.

I'm struggling with regular text dictation with the update (iPhone Air). It consistently seems to pause before the end of what I say, and then catch up...or not. Or it will pause, I'll assume it didn't "catch" the end of my sentence, so I'll repeat it—and then it will type it twice.

Spelling and incorrect words seem worse than before, although I admit I also reset my iPhone dictionary at around the same time as the update, based on some advice on a different thread about persistent bad dictation outcomes here.

I only use Mail on iOS and iPadOS (not on macOS), but they find messages going as far back as 2020-2021. Still indexing (at 87%).

Interesting. Good to know. I keep long term email on Proton and Siri cannot access that.
As for indexing, from day 1 and still indexing “strong”. 🤣

Looks like Siri can’t find texts that are living in the “Recently Deleted” section of the Messages app. Bummer for someone like me who compulsively deletes text threads. Oh well.

Just got the new Siri. Been indexing and plugged into power (day/night other than on the weekend) since last Tuesday morning. Still indexing, of course, but that was expected.

I have OEM wired CarPlay but use an aftermarket wireless adapter. While it did have occasional crashes in the past, it was nowhere near the frequency I’m seeing now, even early on in this beta cycle.

I’ll see how it does on the way home after the restart I did earlier and report back.
I'm sure you know this, but those aftermarket wireless CarPlay adaptors have a web interface you connect to and check for new firmware releases. I had a few different ones and updated each several times in the past. Hoping that helps.

Same here. iPhone 17 Pro. Might not be noticeable in some use cases since it seems to switch to cell data when WiFi disconnects. But I first noticed it running a ham radio remote that includes streaming audio. In that case, switching to cell data interrupts the connection and the audio stops along with the connection.... and it happens every minute or two in that configuraiton. Feedback sent.

EDIT: While I watched, it disconnected from WiFi, reverted to cell data and then re-connected to WiFi with no active app and no active data connection. So it is not confined to apps that use data.
After I wrote that I did more experimenting and it seems this WiFI disconnect issue might be related to other settings AND to poor WiFi connectivity.

It seems my router might have been having temporary issues with real time streaming. This coupled with enabling "allow more data on 5G" in cellular settings may have been causing the phone to switch to cell data when it thought that my 5G connection was better than WiFi. I disabled "allow more data on 5G", rebooted the mesh router system and things seem to have settled down.
