I have updated to iOS 5.1 to both of my iPhones 3GS and 4S. The battery runs out very quick. Anyone has the same problem with me? Thinking of coming back to iOS 5.0.1 but don't know how. Comments, pls?

Yep same here. I really don't want to do a restore and start fresh. :(

Have you tried running the battery down to 0% and then completely charge to 100%? I had battery issues on my iPhone 4 and iPad 1 as soon as I upgraded to iOS 5 last Fall. Drained batteries completely and then charged and by the second full charge everything was much better. Did it following each upgrade and since last week's upgrade my standby number for the iPhone is almost 3 days again; I don't need to charge every day.

I don't think you can downgrade unless your device is JB and then there are qualifications, IIRC.

There are many threads in both iOS and iPhone sections already... all it takes is looking over the first page before hitting the new thread button...

Some report issues. Others of us still have no issue going 2 days on a charge as before.

Try lelisa13p's advice.

Wow! My experience with iOS5.1 is exactly the opposite. With 5.01, I could go about 24 hours before the battery in my 4s was done. Now, after installing 5.1 and recalibrating the battery two days ago it's vastly improved. I took it off the charger yesterday about 5AM, now, it's still at 65%charge.

Mine's better with 5.1. Therefore, you're doing something wrong, either there's an app in the background that's toast, or your battery need recalibrated.

I never really had any battery issues with my 4s and honestly think my battery is better with the 5.1 update.

No battery problems here, either. Though didn't have any with 5.0 or 5.01 either.

Not denying people do, but my 4S (VZW) and wife's 4S (AT&T) are solid.

due to an unfortunate time capsule corruption during a clean upgrade to lion a couple of weeks ago, i lost the "connection files" that iTunes kept in my home folder, so basically had to re-sync the phone to a new computer. something got off in the process. my weather and stock apps dropped their settings, and my battery life went down the tubes.

The phone would be completely dead by noon. and then again by 6 pm, and pretty low by late evening. i stopped all apps, killed all location services.
during this time (3-4 days) the phone completely ran out of battery about 5 or 6 times, probably only happened 3 or 4 times before that (original 4 on launch day)

the only thing that helped, was a clean install of 5.0.1. now it's back to it's normall battery life. (and i've also upgraded to 5.1 since)

I've never had battery problems in the past with any of my iPhones (and I've had every one since the original, except for the 3G). But ever since I upgraded to 5.1, my 4S has been draining the battery at record speed. Same with my wife's iPhone 4.

I'm averaging about ~20% every 3 hours of use, which is considerably better since before 5.1 it was ~20% every 1 hour of use.

Poor Battery Life Issue Continues...

Poor battery life continues on both 4S and 3GS models following the iOS 5.1 update (including the suggested troubleshooting of initiating a hard reset and a complete battery drain).

Yeah, our battery problems started as soon as we did our update to 5.1. We both have 4S, and we have an iPad2. All 3 units have turned into battery drainers. We never had any complaints about battery life before this update. We both have Mophie Juice Packs and we were both having to charge about every other day, and still had about 30% battery when we'd finally dock. Since the upgrade, yesterday for example, I started the day with 83%, drained down from 100% overnight while I was sleeping, hit zero by lunch, after only watching 3 short videos on YouTube and checking tweets. Recharged to 100%, undocked around 5:00pm and was down to zero again this morning. I am currently charging her back up and hoping that this recalibration will fix the issue. Again, the only change over the past week was the update to 5.1 and it immediately started with the battery problems. If there is anything running anywhere then the update turned all those things on because I haven't touched anything and haven't added any apps or used my phone any differently than I always have.

fingers crossed that this charge will fix things, but not holding my breath

iOS 5.1

The battery life of iPhone 4S was great. But when I updated it o IOS 5.1, it is consuming more battery. In the period of 24 hours, my device installed with iOS 5.1 is consuming 70%-80% more battery than earlier. I am not getting why this thing is happening. Can anyone resolve my problem?

My standby's time definitely worse. Previously, it could last 2 days of light usage, now it's down to 20% after a day. :(
