So I wasn't allowed to post YouTube links apparently so here are some screenshots instead....

For a class we have to come up with either a new product for a company or re-work a product for future release... So I chose to design iOS6 for the iPhone (might add iPad in later).

So anyways, here are some of the new features and/or updates I have come up with so far, I hope you like. If you have any ideas please let me know and I will create a screenshot of what that might look like :D

New Task Bar
The new task bar has been redesigned to have a more consistent look throughout iOS and now includes the Notification icon that will glow a different color when notifications are available in the notification bar. Nothing too major here.

New Notification Gesture
Instead of swiping from the top of the screen down, like you currently would in iOS, the new gesture is from the far right of the screen to the left (like it is in Mountain Lion now). This will create a uniform feel and look between iOS and OS X... It also plays into the next feature I have added...

Mission Control
iPhones are currently being used with more apps than they could have ever been imagined to do when iOS was first created, so we have decided to blend OS X into iOS with Mission Control. With a gesture from the far left of the screen to the right you can access the Mission Control window which allows you too see what apps you are running with an actual preview window of the app.

Launchpad
People are looking to access apps on their iOS devices quicker than they currently can so we made it easier. By pinching with 2 fingers and your thumb you will see Launchpad (an exact replica of your Homescreen).

New Maps App
Finally, a real navigation app on your iOS device. This new application features 3d technology that Apple gained access to when it acquired C3 Technologies late last year. Get voice navigation with Standard, 3D, or Hybrid maps and have all the same great features that can currently be found in Maps.

New Music App
We have redesigned the Music App to introduce a more unified interface between the iPad and iPhone.

New Phone App
We have redesigned the Phone App to give you a better, more user friendly interface that is also more consistent across iOS and OS X devices.

What is it with you guys wanting LaunchPad? you ARE aware that LaunchPad is for Mac OS, to replicate iOS' SpringBoard, right?

I think your ideas are, for the most part, fantastic!

Jare is being an ass - just ignore him. He doesn't understand that two people can create logical designs without being copied from one another.

If you have any animated videos up I for one would love to see them. As far a mock ups go you do a good job, and some very good ideas there too!

Because the great thing about LaunchPad is that you can quickly open a new app without going 'Home'... It just makes life easier and I think it goes toward the removal of the Home Button, which I think Apple will do eventually anyways.

Oh, I never thought of the home button thing, That can still be added to SpringBoard tho. and honestly, I think Apple should make the border touch sensative.

Great job!

As a preliminary matter, great job! I really like how you decided to do this for a class assignment. Seeing things like this is the reason I've been reading these forums for years. The features may never be implemented, but they are ideas that seem really innovative, creative and even useful! Great job, keep it up. You have a very creative mind and keep using it!

The idiot(s) who have decided to insult you for your ideas on this open forum should feel ashamed. So what if your idea is similar to another's? So what if your idea doesn't have 100% utility to everyone? It's your idea, for your class project and you have every right to create and show off what you've made and be praised for your creativity. The disrespectful and extremely immature poster who continuously keeps telling you that you copied his "concept" should remember a few things:

1)The "launchpad" idea is not his. It's Apple's.
2)The iOS version of "launchpad" that the other poster has created is not legally his. There is no patent, and anyone in the world could replicate it with whatever modifications as they please.
3)This is an open forum. People are free to post what they want, create whatever ideas they want. One of the reasons this post exists is for these reasons exactly. As I said above, I love reading these posts with "futuristic" concepts.
4)Last but certainly not least, be respectful. You should be ashamed of the way you handled this.

I'm sure some people won't like my post, and think I'm just some "newbie" as I don't post much. I may only be a registered poster since last year, however I've been reading these forums since they were created. I'm a respectful member of the online community and I should be able to reasonably expect the same from all other posters.

I hope this is received well. Good job again on the designs and I look forward to an iPad mockup!

Thanks, that means a lot! I try to be creative with everything I do. I applaud you on your outlook on stuff. :)

I think most of this stuff won't happen (especially the new notification center gesture, because swiping down is just more logical) except for the mission control/app-switching interface you came up with. it looks really good, and it would be awesome on the iPhone, but I think it'll eventually be implented differently. Great job though :apple:

It would be cool to see background animation on like Galaxy S2.
I was kind of a fan of those but bit disappointed that it never came to iPhone.

Not sure about the linen texture in the Call app. Also, have you thought about improving the Call app by making it so that it will start suggesting names for you after a certain number of digits?

Having owned a Nokia Lumia 800 for two weeks and used Windowd Phone 7, I can honestly say that iOS needs a refresh. Notifications/widgets is an area that needs improvements and so does the whole navigation. Although I loved my iPad 2, WP7 has made the OS feel a bit antique.
