iOS 7

I cant install iOS 7 beta on my ipad 3. So Frusturating. Got Error (com.apple.dtdevicekit error 3000.) Talking to dev. support on the phone but its not looking promising...:confused:

Awww...:apple:

Does anyone know how well iOS 7 runs on older iPhones and iPads? The iPhone 4S, the iPhone 5, the iPad 2, and the iPad Mini in particular would be really helpful info. Thanks :)

I've been watching this thread for quite some time, but I had a few questions about the updates to notification center, that I'm hoping you guys can answer:

1. I have a shared calendar from my wife for her school class schedule. It has a number of events every day for her various classes, so to not clutter up my calendar view, I hide it in the Calendar app, but events from that calendar still show up in notification center, and I still get alarms for those events. Does iOS 7 still show events from hidden calendars in the NC? Is there a difference between the "Today" view and the other notification tabs? Is there an option to have hidden calendars not show up in NC? And if it still works the same way as iOS 6, would it be possible for one of the devs on here to submit a bug report for that, so that hopefully it will get changed in the future?

2. For the reminders on the Today page of the NC, can you mark items as complete right there, or are they just the same type of alerts that show up in the iOS 6 NC that you have to tap on, and it takes you to the Reminders app, where you have to check them off there?

3. Also related to reminders, in the current NC, it appears that the reminders that are shown are in the window of 24 hours before "now", to 24 hours after "now". So, if it's 3:00 PM today, it would show any missed reminders back to 3:00 PM yesterday, and any reminders that are upcoming up to 3:00 PM tomorrow. For the Today view, I assume that no reminders for tomorrow show up, correct? (I hope not anyhow) What about overdue reminders? Do they show up in the Today view? And if so, is there a limit to how far back they will show up for? So, if I have a reminder that was due 3 days ago, will it still show up on the Today view?

4. I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this one (since I don't see it on the first page of the thread), but has the ability to dismiss single notifications in the NC been added yet?

Thanks in advance for the responses!

A couple more random questions:

1. What do passbook notifications look like on the lock screen? Do they look the same as other notifications, or is there something that sets them apart? If they look different, could someone post a screenshot?

2. I've always had an issue with the "Show Traffic" option in Maps. It seems that it randomly turns itself off. I don't know if it is when I use Maps to get directions, or get directions from Siri, or what. Is that bug still present in iOS 7? And if so, any chance someone can submit a bug report for that?

It may not be new, but I saw it for the first time just today! How about that sending bar on the bottom of the default Mail app...

I put it on my wife's iPhone 4S the other day, and it seems to run just fine. Not quite as snappy as on my iPhone 5, but that was true of iOS 6, too.

Hmm... Would you say it would be a good idea to install it on the 4S for everyday use then? My sister and mom have 4S's and I'm wondering whether to tell them to install it or not.

I'm mainly wondering because I used to have an iPhone 4, and when I installed iOS 6 on it it lagged like crazy.

EDIT: Thanks for the help!

I wonder if there will be anymore betas. Last year iOS 6's last beta was released on August 6th and then went to GM on September 12th. I wonder if Beta 5 was the last one...not just because it was also released on August 6th...just because the last beta is usually the longest.

I highly doubt it, and hope it won't be.

This is the first time (if memory serves me correctly) that 2 betas were released one week apart.

There's too much that's changed, too much riding on this release (being such a big change from previous versions of iOS), they'll do as much tweaking and testing as is necessary.

I think at this point, 1 more beta before the GM seems realistic and likely.

Yeah and BGR said there will be one more beta. We will see pretty soon eh?

This is one week late, but, the tuesday that iOS 7 beta 5 was out, "iOS 7" was the number 1 TT on Twitter, I don't think I have ever seen anything like this for a beta, the hype for iOS 7 is enormous..

I just realized what bothers me so much about the new "reception dots" instead of the old bars. It looks like when you enter a password which is hidden as dots. I still don't get some of the design choices..

Yeah its been on and off since WWDC. At first I would expect iOS 7 to be Trending the day at WWDC but I've seen it trend when Beta 2 came out and Beta 3 came out. Beta 5, iOS 7 lasted a while Trending and even made it to the top.

You should see some of the tweets from a couple 9to5Mac editors. I swear they've lost their mind over iOS 7 and if they had their way Cook and Ive would be fired over it.

LOL yes! Beasley and Steeber absolutely HATE iOS 7. Too bad they will HAVE to upgrade come its final release.

I couldn't tell at first if they were serious or just taking the piss. But man I just don't get how you can hate something so much. iOS 6 doesn't really float my boat but it doesn't make my blood boil. At the end of the day it's not that important.

They will get used to it. Everyone has gotten used to iOS 7. They will eventually.

iOS 7 adds a bizarre green tint to the bottom and right side of the dock when adding certain wallpaper through iTunes sync, but no green tint when applying the same wallpaper through camera roll. I can't see how this could possibly be a bug but then again...it makes zero sense to include this as a purposeful addition, either. It looks a little like mold. This is the wallpaper in question:

Love this wallpaper and thanks for sharing.

I just like scouring these threads and looking for the proverbial, "It's been there since iOS 4/5/6" posts! :D
