Considering the bars/dots don't really mean that much, specifically seeing if it's 4 bars or 5 bars or something like that isn't exactly useful anyway. Which is why the whole thing with the new dots kind of gives more space to something that is actually not that meaningful and more or less just completely moves away from an accepted industry standard of using bars for no real/good reason beyond just for the sake of change more or less.

Well the dots/bars mean the difference between facetiming someone or waiting until I'm in a better area. Or the difference between more hefty web use by tethering my iPad or not.... The dots are much easier to see than the bars.

When i swipe up to get to the control panel i dont have an airplay or airdrop button like i did in beta 1. Does anyone know why?? OR is this happening for anyone else.

Fine for me. Could be a glitch or could be your wifi. You'll only get airplay when there's an airplay device on your wifi. Otherwise it'll be just airdrop. Although I heard airdrop is iPad 4 and iPhone 5 only.

Don't you need Bluetooth on for AirDrop?

Bluetooth turns on when you enable airdrop, along with wifi. Turn Bluetooth off and airdrop turns off. Until beta 1 was released, from what I saw in the keynote I had thought it was wifi, but it must use both.

Nope, AirPlay should work on any Device capable of running iOS 4.3 or later.

http://www.apple.com/airplay/

1. AirPlay is available on all devices running iOS 4.3 or later. Some features require the latest software. Second-generation Apple TV or later required.

2. AirPlay Mirroring is available with iPad 2 or later; iPad mini; iPhone 4S; iPhone 5; iPod touch (5th generation); and iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer) with Mountain Lion.

3. Dual-screen capability is available with iPad 2 or later, iPad mini, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPod touch (5th generation).

Yeah, it looks for other iOS devices on the network to AirDrop to just like on Mac.

See my edited post. Typo and meant airdrop.

Yes, that explains wifi being on, but why Bluetooth? It can't need both wifi and Bluetooth to search and transfer files.

I think it looks for the device on the network and transfers via Bluetooth. I'm not 100% sure though because I don't know much about how that sort of stuff works.

That makes no sense though. Why bother when it's already using wifi? Surely just easier and more efficient to use the one type?

I was just taking a guess, but yeah you're right. I think the WiFi limits it and gets something like Android Beam a leg up over AirDrop. I don't think Android Beam requires WiFi which means you can do it anywhere. If you aren't on the same WiFi network (or near one for that matter), AirDrop won't work.

Pretty sure these are the wrong icons for my iPhone & HandsFreeLink (Bluetooth to car)!

Working fine on my mini.

Font looks smaller / thinner on default size (compared to beta 3)

Have they included an option to change the weight of the text yet? I've not found anything.
yep...

Of course you can't. Apple won't offer an option for such an important setting that changes the way the whole OS feels.

Really?

I still prefer the first font they used, but, it seems they went from UltraLight to Thin, whereas beta 3 had much in the heavier Regular weight, so, Thin is better looking than regular, thank you Apple :). But, now the heavier weight is an option for those having trouble reading the thin font.

Sometimes I can't pull my notifications down when a message or anything comes. I can only pull down the notification window after the the notification goes away. Anyone else having this issue?

Alright is just me or you can't slide down when you have a banner notification to see the notification center?

Swipe the notification up then you can pull down. Not sure if this is on purpose or a bug (having to do this first), but, nice to be able to swipe up the notifications!

MAPS: I can't get fullscreen mode to work after I map out where I'm going (this worked in beta 3), anyone else? ...Otherwise some nice improvements, keep going apple!

TWITTER: if you press and hold your finger there for 1/2-1 second the buttons work (found out after much frustration). This may be a twitter app problem, but, sometimes SHAZAM app has button issues also, and I also have problems working with editing in TEXT BOXES??

FYI: AIRDROP: still only works between iOS devices, specifically iOS 7 beta. Wifi & bluetooth on, it will not work with AirDrop capable MacBook Pro. ...still a work in progress.

The wifi doesn't check for network, it can make an ad hoc one, that's what's weird. I can't see any reason why it requires both radios to be used.

Apologies, I missed the iPad mini and the 5th Gen iPod Touch off my list as it was late in the night. :)

Probably requires an update to Mac OS to enable it, which they won't release until nearer GM or release, I suspect.

OS X Mavericks is already in beta testing but airdrop still doesn't work between Mac and iOS device. Maybe they're saving it as one of the "surprises" for the fall event? Or maybe it won't happen until iOS 8.

There's still some more betas and GM to go for iOS 7, along with maybe at least one more dev preview for Mavericks, so they can still enable it. I reckon we'll see it by iOS 7 launch.

The bold font option isn't new. What I meant is that Apple will never give us the option between ultra light or thin font and I believe they won't. The bold font option is something completely different and meant for people with disabilities.

I don't think it's meant ONLY for people with disabilities.

...not new? Ok, I see now, I guess it isn't new, just the first time I've seen it, plus others posts indicated that they haven't seen the option either.

I totally agree with you, though, I would like Apple to go back to ultra light, everything looked new with that font, now it's a bit too familiar to iOS 6. Plus, as pointed out in a thread made when beta 3 came out, the weight (thickness) of the ultra light font matches the lines in the new icons, gives it more continuity.

So, for me, back to Ultra Light font, with the bold option going to roman for people that have difficulty reading that font.

But, it probably won't happen, they will try to please the masses, not those of us that appreciate design done well.

(actually, I'm not sure they went with thin, more like Light...see pg 3...if they would only go with Light or Ultra Light!!:p) https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1608159/

I have Mountain Lion, which has AirDrop (no, not working w/iOS 7). I'm pretty sure I read where Apple stated that with iOS 7 beta, AirDrop currently only works between iOS 7 devices. Maybe they will enable it with GM or one beta before that. But, not holding my breath, sometimes Apple holds a function back until the actual public release of an OS.

the trick is to hold the power button until it says "slide to power off" but don't power off your phone, and then hold the home button til FTM quits

unfortunately FTM hasn't fixed the issue. It just displays flat -100 all the time.

Really? Mine displays the numerical strength indefinitely through all apps and springboard. If it isn't, I just tap the left corner and it comes back. I think this shows there surely is a bug for signal strength UI in Beta 4. Haven't noticed any type of effect on data usage or call quality, though.

I was just about to post and say how it wasn't affecting quality it was just difficult in my friends apartment where signal is sporadic

And then all of the sudden my signal dots started working as I was typing my reply.

Are you a wizard?!
