The bezel should be the same as the dominant color of the ios. That's what I like.

A big contrast between the bezel and the main ios color distracts.

That's why I chose a dark iphone. A white ios will be annoying for a dark bezel.

Why is the bezel of the Macbook Air so hated?

Anyone else getting this glitch? Possible dark theme?

Eye's skipped that. I would assume glitch, but apologies for missing your point.

Not a problem, can definitely see how that might be missed. Agree, I'm sure it's a glitch, but I wonder if it's a glitch hinting at a possible upcoming dark theme..

- Perhaps more importantly to Apple though is show room wow factor. You look at the iOS and it's easy it see that it's made to catch eyes in a store when on the self next to a thousand other phones. Think of it the way TV's are all on their britest settings on the show room floor.

This is not a good argument for making iOS 7 in a similar way.

Once you're home with your new TV, it's much better to properly calibrate it. What attracts eyes in a store is not necessarily the best for actual long-term usage.

I too wish for a black theme. I have the brightness turned almost all the way down on iOS 7 since beta 1. It's just to much of an eyestrain for me. I'm kind of light sensitive.

On a positive note- better battery life!! But on a serious note, how do you find the interface with brightness turned down? If you like it this way, then maybe overall it's a good thing.

I hope someone is paying you to post here.

I think that was Ives himself posting.

No indication of a dark theme this late probably means there won't be one. Apple could always surprise us for the 5S launch but have they ever hid such a big feature from beta builds? Besides, a dark theme can be hard to do right (especially with a flat ui). Even holo on android feels very hollow at times.

I made these mockups weeks ago to see what a black theme would look like. I think it looks pretty cool . . .

Very disappointed (although not surprised) at Apple continuing to restrict choice all the way to GM.

These are still great and I would much prefer my phone to have a dark theme.

Looking at this one I think Apple doesn't wanna make it too Nokia.

Not having a dig at you at all dasx, but Apple shouldn't be worried about a brand that'll be (sadly) all but killed off by Microsoft, they need to start listening more to their customers instead of deciding that they know best all of the time.

I probably didn't make myself clear there. I would be the first one to sign a black theme for iOS7, all I wanted to state was the fact that I doubt Apple would accept even the risk of facing that comparison if you know what I mean. ;)

Like how they opened themselves up to the dig from Nokia about the 5c imitating the lumia series? There are so many things apple has "borrowed" in iOS7. I don't think they are risking anything more at this point. Besides, a theme is a theme. What's underneath is still Apple-like.

I know. But still, I'm pretty sure they thought about it if they ever considered a black theme.

Plus now there are two clear iPhones (Grey and Gold) and just one dark (Space grey), so I'm guessing they already make their bet. White it is. Apple has never made themes (AFAIK at least) so I'm guessing only the jailbreak community will ever enjoy a black theme for iOS7. :(

Funny, on my android phone I used a light (mostly white) theme throughout instead of the commonly black/blue holo theme most people use (these mockups look very much like it). White is brighter at night but I can manage with filter apps that lower the brightness even more. As for ios 7 I adapted to the white but the one thing I think needs to be tweaked is the ui elements. Everything is so flat that it can be hard to distinguish at first. Even a couple shadows here and there might do wonders. A lot of times I feel like it's an early version of windows phone.

This may sound dumb but how did you get a white theme on your Android? Did you have to root?

I use an Android (HTC one) but I have actually grown tired if the dark elements that run through it so this thread was funny to read. I think a white UI looks cleaner, I hope Kitkat will take Android in a different direction and make it look more like Google

if more people complain or criticize about the lack of a black theme on ios 7, Apple might take notice and hopefully makes a turnaround with an update or even with ios 8 or later....this is all speculation BTW..

I agree. Too much white. Touch targets aren't clear. Maybe all black isn't the answer but they need more contrast

Maybe extending the GPS nav night mode to the rest of the system would be awesome. After sunset, run in dark mode. If the room is almost completely dark, run in dark mode as well. This would be configurable of course... I'd totally love it.

I don't love the black.. Dark gray might be cool though.. I like the white for the most part.

I would be all for having a few color option.. If they did it an api would also be good.. So that apps can include the same themes.

I have always rooted and changed the rom pretty much out of the box so I'm not too sure about stock. Also have little experience with the one. On aosp based roms there are many theme options. On my phone there is quite a good/comprehensive theme called domination light (and dark version) for touchwiz roms on the s4. I have moved on from touchwiz however to stock google 4.3. I certainly missed the light theme (or any theming options) but the simplicity and speed was worth it. Dark themes IMO feel cold. iOS 7 has actually grown on me (at least the white ui). I do hope in kitkat google changes it up a bit. I really do like how they theme their apps (play music, YouTube, handouts, gmail, etc...). Flat and light like ios7 with a little more depth and contrast.
