I will dare say that people who bring up these useless discussions are too poor to afford both systems and thus a resentment is there for not having owned the other platform. Since they cant say it directly, they are hellbent on proving that grapes are sour. Its impossible for me to believe that anyone who is a tech enthusiast and enjoys the marvels of technology will outright brand one platform as "trash" while extolling the virtues of other.

Ios is beautiful, so is android, so is Windows. Get over yourselves. Get a proper high paying job and be able to afford all 3 systems.

I don't know, maybe he means that aspect is primitive compared to Android, which if you try to send a SMS with no service, it waits until you get some and send it automatically.

Unless it says failed and then doesn't try anymore.

So with Android, she would have been able to send the message underground? (Not an Android user, still learning.) I thought not being able to send underground was a corollary of being out of 3G or LTE range. No??

Android lets you press send. You could send as many messages as you want. It queues up the messages if there is no service, then sends them when service returns.

The "send" button on iOS is literally faded out and you cannot send, thus the woman just holding onto her written message until service returned before she could press "send."

iOS 7 is another game of catch-up (lockscreen updates for instance), instead of catch-up and surpass (i.e. innovate) adding features Android already has.

How far ahead is Android? Their next OS update is a point release, while Apple is a whole version number.

the .x vs version release does not mean anything. They are just numbers.

Where I work we release the produce main number by year and then all other releases that year are .x. we have had .x releases that where a much bigger upgrade than a year upgrade.

The number means nothing. Apple will do a yearly upgrade for no other reason that it is expected. I also see them throwing stuff in that is nothing more than marketing BS.

It is not that they cannot afford multiple platforms. They are so devoted to one buying multiple and IMHO not needed devices that they choose not to look into the others which I agree with you have their merits.

fine. however it means that these people are not really into technology. they instead somehow have to validate their ego of "superior device possession" . one who is excited about the new trends will obviously want to experiment with all systems.

Wat. That's just not true. If you try to send a text without signal on iOS it'll try to send it for about a minute then say "message send failure" if you don't get signal during that time. You then have the option to resend. If you do get signal in that time it'll send it.

Is this something new? When I had my iPhone 5, when I didn't have service, the send button would be faded out, indicating you couldn't even press it. And indeed, when you try to press it, as I did, nothing happens.

Maybe 6.1.3 changed that?

I've never had that happen and I get spotty reception all the time. I'm not running 6.1.3 either, I'm on a slightly older version, like 6.0.2 or something. Maybe that's something Apple added in 6.1? I'll update today and find out for ya if I get around to it.

You've got that right! The "Apps for PassBook" section of the NZ App Store has a grand total of two apps in it... and neither of them work in NZ (why are they even in the NZ store?)

Holy crap there's a Kiwi mod!

Greetings from Christchurch!

OP, are you not aware that every year Apple releases a new version of iOS? Simple Marketing perception that the higher number means better.

I'm talking about when there is no reception whatsoever.

Is that really a big deal? Are we really that connection dependent now that someone cannot wait the few minutes they are underground on a train in order to send a message?

I get that every now and again something important comes to mind that you want to send, but you can still type it up and just hit send again once you hit the platform.

WiFi - but in any case I thought onthecouchagain's first post was a metaphor. It will be interesting to see what the next versions of iOS and Android are like. I predict that they both converge on the most efficient solutions to problems, differentiated only because of those pesky patents. ZOMG - what will people here do if Android and iOS begin to look more and more alike each other????

Hey op, do you love android that much that you need confirmation from a mac forum that ios is inferior? If so that is just plain sad. For the record, I don't judge an os completely on its features, why? Because why do I need certain things that I personally will never use. I'm not gonna freakin root my device, install a ROM, and have it become some kind of universal super device. I don't need my device to do absolutely everything. As a result, for me, the advantages of ios and the Apple experience outweigh the advantages of android, so to me ios is better. jesus this fanboyism is getting out of hand.

Why does WiFi matter? It's a text message. Text messages are not affected by WiFi at all. And in before iMessage - I do not have iMessage turned on, as you can tell by the colour of the message bubbles.

Anyway, the send button works fine without WiFi too but I can't be assed to turn it off and take another screenshot.

Not a big deal; I don't own an iPhone anymore. Was sharing a story.

I've been back and forth with both the past month but have to disagree with you on the lock screen. I found even ios6's lock screen notifications to be an improvement over androids. A ding and preview of the email to automatically light up is the best IMO.

I agree, I much prefer the lockscreen in iOS but it's literally just this one thing. Everything else is superior in Android, to me anyway.

Well,I read ..and..read ...and laughed. Most of you say that android is superior when there are a lot of things that suggests otherwise.First of all i would say that both android and iOS are great operating systems both have advantages and disadvantages(i don`t want to go to details because it`s too long). My personal reason for preferring iOS is support for older devices and the optimization for them, for instance i own an ooooold iphone 3gs and i`m running iOS 6.1.3 and it runs great,on the other hand just yesterday i was testing the new samsung galaxy tab 2 running 4.0.3 android version, and it was not so much of a testing but just wanted to have a glance at it.It was lagging BRAND NEW DEVICE with no additional apps on it.Basically android needs much better hardware to run smooth and that is why a 2 year old android device can`t run the latest android version. And the simplicity and at the same time the productivity of iOS is second to none for me.

C'mon guys, you are all not even providing a 2/10 performance here. Start throwing around some bigger BS to make this interesting atleast. Sheesh. Why so serious in a troll thread?

Ios7 is so far behind apple needs to go look at MS campus to find better copying ideas.
