Hi all

Sorry for another battery thread!

Ive got iOS9 GM on my iPhone 6+ and the battery on the thing seems truly awful, it actually drains when its charging and I'm using it, i did a clean install of the GM and restored from iCloud backup - Just wondering if anyone else had had this type of issue?

Not too fussed as have ordered my 6s and hoping its just a dodgy install!

Cheers

I'm seeing this problem as well. However I restored from PC backup. I will probably give my phone another day to see if it settles in. Otherwise I will restore and use iCloud backup to see if there is any difference. I really do not want to start fresh.

Went from 9 PB3 to GM. Battery life sucked. Restored as a new to 9.1 beta 1. Battery life sucked. Restored 9 GM as a new phone. Battery life seems much better now. Can't say if it's as good as on 8.4.1 , but it seems like it. But 8.4.1 hasn't been too good in the batter life department either.

But it feels almost alright now. iPhone 5S here.

This is good to hear. I will have to try this today. My 5S battery life is complete crap on 9 GM. Yesterday I was down to 20% with less than 3 hours usage and 13 standby. It's very frustrating.

I restored an iTunes backup. I'll try setting up as new to see if that helps any. It didn't with PB3, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I was quite curious if there is ANYONE getting really more battery life with iOS 9 (after doing a fresh install) compared to 8.4.1?!

After reading through these forums it seems like EVERYONE is getting worse battery life with 9 GM than with 8.4.1....even though after having done a complete phone wipe and fresh install.

I upgraded my iPhone 6 Plus from iOS 8.4.1 to 9.0 GM and my battery life seems to be about the same.

I had the public betas and had to downgrade after beta 3 because my battery life was the same as the OP, I'm running the 5s as well. I am not looking forward to iOS 9 if the battery life is going to be half of what it is on 8.4.1 :'(

*Apple claims better battery life with iOS 9* what they really mean is better battery life if you have a 6s

I think opinions have been mixed on other devices, but the battery life on the 5S has been pretty much universally crappy in my research. My wife's 6+ and my buddy's 6 have both been about the same as 8.4/8.4.1. My 5S has been horrible. Right now I'm at 67% with less than 90 minutes usage and 7 hours standby.

Glad not just me - although the battery draining whilst it's on charge is the most alarming bit!!

I can confirm.

Is poor battery life an OS problem or app problem? I'm seeing apps under battery usage run less efficiently than others. I'd check there first because an app update to support iOS 9 may fix a few battery issues.

I can't speak for all, but I'm quite certain that for me it's an OS issue. My apps with most usage are Safari, Music, Mail, and Messages. These account for about 70% of my usage. That being said, while using any app I can watch the battery percentage tick down. Heck, I've lost 4% in the last 5 minutes on Safari.

I hope they find a solution for this sooner than later. They still sell the 5S; I wouldn't think they'd find it acceptable to be shipping a product to consumers in this state. Who knows these days. iOS quality has been slowly taking a dive since 6. Oh how I miss my iPhone 5 with iOS 6........

My iPhone 5S battery on 9 GM is looking good so far, at least I think it is. It was great on 8.4.1, sucked big time on 9 public beta 3. Hoping this level of performance continues.

one thing you guys with issues need to remember or keep in mind is the settings>general>reset all option. That is definitely a way to help with battery issues after an update with restore of data. That has been a known solution for a while now to get things back in order after restoring a backup to a new iOS install or upgrade. Definitely worth a try as it does keep your data unlike a setup as new install. Just have to go back through your settings to set as you prefer, and add wallpaper and any wifi networks back. Pretty painless though.

I'm also getting pretty killer battery life. I feel like it's better than 8.4. But again, I've always had amazing battery on my 6 Plus.

I think in a lot of cases, it is due to people using apps that haven't been updated for iOS 9. Even though people know that they installed a beta or a GM candidate, they still seem to treat it with retail consumer expectation. And when they get bad battery life, many blame the OS.

The other aspect is forum member A trying to use other forum members B, C, and D battery life as some kind of standard, when battery life usage is not meant to be received in such a static manner, in my opinion. So many variables involved in battery life with each user.

Every time a new OS is released to beta, the same choruses get sung on Macrumors.

I am also experiencing rapid battery drain using an iPhone 6 Plus on EE running iOS 9.0 GM. I've tried restoring a backup from my Mac and from iCloud with identical results.
