Same issue is present on both my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6s. I have done a number of hard resets and nothing is triggering it. I did a hard reboot last night, but kept the devices off via that hard reboot throughout the entire night. Devices are charging now. Hopefully it sorted it out. My iPhone was at 9 hours of stand by and 9 hours of usage with 18% remaining. Something is stuck in the background for sure.

-----
Nope. Both devices are still showing the same battery usage and standby as the device drains. With nothing opened, screens off.

Now I'm gonna try Airplane mode on.

Alright there is definitely a bug when it comes to networking. When iPad and iPhone are on Airplane mode, battery usage and standby are not the same. When on Wifi/Cellular, battery time is the same for both usage and standby.
It seems there would have to be if setting airplane mode stops it. I agree with C DM that most likely an email acct or iCloud. I would close all apps and reset network settings then see. if no help then remove email accts (or disable them if multiple ones) and add them back. Have see that fix this issue. Its pretty common actually.

Even if there is absolutely no data being transmitted?

Not really since the app had a complete ground up , redesign. But ok.

Yes but it was around a new service. An AppleTV app is just an app. You're not going to see an entire OS update to introduce an app. Otherwise, they will just include it in iOS 10. Probably be built into iOS 10. Something else to go in the junk folder.

You are both right. I think what he is saying is that the new Music app was focused around the newly released Apple Music service.

The same happened with iOS 8.1 and Apple Pay. They didn't redesign any existing app yet they released a major update to iOS 8 just to introduce Apple Pay.

Yes. Imagine if you had cellular turned off and your wifi was on but not actually connected to the internet. The mail app or iCloud would still try even though no working connection. Again you stated turning on airplane mode stopped it so clearly something is trying to communicate constantly and that would explain the usage being the same as standby. It used to be very common with exchange email accts getting hung. Not as bad these days but still iCloud and email will cause this issue. Sometimes its as simple as disabling email accts and rebooting the device then enable again. Or signing out of iCloud reboot and sign back in. Other times a reset network settings is required to solve it.

Removed both email accounts that I have and reset network settings. Testing now to see if its still showing same stats.

Success! After 5 minutes. 1 minute of usage, 5 of standby. Thank you to you and C DM for your help!

I still want to see a perfectly smooth app switcher on iPads :(

Went to Apple Store and even the 9.7inch iPad Pro chopped and stuttered like my mini 2... Air 2 wasn't stuttering at all though???

But yeah, going INTO the switcher is usually smooth, it's just going into an app from the switcher is what usually stutters if you have 4+ apps in there. Really annoying. Only fix is increase contrast.

If it wasn't for this stuttery app switcher I would easily be able to say that iOS 9 out performs iOS 8, just like Apple claimed it would back in June.

In some ways its a good thing (if you hold onto tech for 4-5 years) But in many ways its a bad thing. For example. These tablets and phones have the horsepower (specifically graphics power) to be running games with graphics quality as good or better than a PS3. Yet developers have to program for the lowest common denominator. (iPad2 , iPhone 4S). This severely limits the potential and we have reached a point where software is holding back these devices, specifically iPads. Apple gets up every year and brags about how fast and powerful the next phone is......and what do we get? Another candy crush or clash of clans clone. Whats the good of getting up EVERY SINGLE YEAR and saying the A whatever processor is 2X faster and 2X the graphics when that power is RARELY RARELY RARELY seen. So now your snapchats load 0.02 seconds faster?

Theres a reason people still have old iPads....they're fast enough for basic consumption like music , photos and movies.

If its all about apps, like apple continues to pound into our brains every chance they get....THEN GIVE US THE APPS!

Forgive me but I miss the good ole days of app store apps where there was actual progress (2008-2012)

I was just thinking of this recently. I think ever since Flappy Bird was released in 2013, all these newer games are following the same stripped down simplistic retro-looking approach and I hate that. Although I loved Flappy Bird when it was released and the idea of how a simple game with simple graphics can be just as effectively enjoyable, it's a HUGE step down in terms of utilising the graphics that the newer iPhones possess. There's still the odd game with decent graphics but you have to really look for them. The App Store is FLOODED with these over simplistic games and I'm getting bored with them all (Crossy Road and Stack being the recent ones). Like you I really wish they'd create more console-like games because it's a huge waste having all that graphics power yet catering to the oldest supporting iOS devices by creating simple games just so they can play on them.

Happy to hear someone with the exact same opinion than me about the App Store.

I agree that Flappy Bird was the last addicting game with an awesome concept.

Now games on the App Store are too simple, they doesn't have a unique gameplay, they all look the same. Before we had some amazing games like Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Temple Run, Jetpack Joyride... Those were the games ! Not like those Ketchapp's "tap to jump" games. :(

Just my findings, battery life on 9.3.2 is utter rubbish. Battery life on all ios9 betas was far better. My usage patterns are the same, its now impossible to reach 5pm without being at 15% battery, was usually at 45%.
The main reason that battery life appears worse on each OS is due to standard battery life deterioration. iPhone 6S's are now almost a year old, so you're looking at around 15% degradation. It's a sad fact about battery technology. Yes, occasionally there a software differences, but i'll bet most of the time that it's simply due to standard battery wear. I normally get a free battery exchange in the Apple store a month before the 12 month guarantee is up (or actually 5 years in the UK), as heavy users will not get the perforate that Apple market in the devices after this time.

I don't think the battery really deteriorates around 15% in under a year.

I have 16 cycles on my 6S+ and battery life is not great with 9.3.2. The last time I've seen fantastic battery life was on 9.2. I wish I stuck with that.

Add me to the list of people who don't bother much with iOS games anymore.

Every single game is the same damn formula. Mine/harvest/search for gems/coins/trinkets to buy stuff to upgrade or unlock more levels to find gems/coins/trinkets. Wait large amounts of real time for upgrades. Skip these waits or collect gems/coins/trinkets faster with in-app purchases. It's all the same ********. There must be a VERY large contingent of people who love these games and pour money into them, otherwise we wouldn't see so damn many of them.

I have absolutely no interest in that crap though. I miss simple, addictive games with (then) innovative concepts like Angry Birds (before in-app purchases).

Seems much smoother than 9.3.2 actually, on my iPhone 6+

I hope my mini 2 gets smoother too, it's ALMOST perfect, it's just the darn app switcher that is still stuttery!! Real annoying. Spotlight is even butter smooth now and that never was the case, even with iOS 7 or 8.

New (mildly interesting) addition: Accessing the Advertising panel under Privacy in the Settings app without a working wifi/data connection gives the above message.

It's like that in 9.3.2 as well, and likely has been like that for some time, or not pretty much always.
