On iPhone 6 Plus? Does this mean you

- Turned off Search
- Turned off LTE
- Turned off Background app refresh
- Turned off iCloud Back Up and Drive only?

LTE is on, Search is on too.

I turned off your last 2 bullets:

- Turned off Background app refresh
- Turned off iCloud Back Up and Drive

I've noticed a significant improvement with this, however the battery life is still not on par with 8.3. Still, it is much much muuuuch better than earlier with iOS9.

Charging is still very slow.

EDIT: Oops, sorry, yes, I guess Low Power mode turns off the first 2 bullets too. Your 4 bullets are correct.

I know when Low Power Mode is on LTE stays on but won't load at those speeds, and the Search turns off as power gets lower etc

I really hope they release b2 on monday; I had to go back to 8.3 because of the battery, and now I have an unusable watch stuck on wOS2...

I'm also hoping for the beta 2 release on Monday. Reverted back to 8.3 in the 3rd day after installing beta 1.

Was plugging in the power more than I would have liked.

Worked for me, at least on my iPad Air 2. Charged fully. Left it in airplane mode for the night and woke up to 96% battery. iPhone 5s slightly less successful

I turned off the cloud things, no difference.

In fact my drain is so bad, that when my 6Plus is is in the car running Waze, and being charged, the battery goes down quicker than the car can charge it. Crazy !

I've turned off indexing and iCloud stuff and my battery is still being drained. This is a Saturday which is actually lighter usage for me than a weekday and it is just almost dead. It went off the charger at 9am and it's just past 1pm and I'm down in the 30% range.

I had hoped a clean wipe would solve the issue so I actually spent some time a few days ago backing things up so I could get a clean install of iOS 9 but it made no difference.

Something just isn't turning off properly. My phone is almost always warm.

I use iCloud Drive in quite a few of my apps so this is not an option for me. But if I've waited two weeks, I'll be fine for another day or two lol.

Disabling iCloud Drive (the whole feature not just the new app that came with iOS 9), turning off iCloud backup and enabling power saving mode seemed to greatly lower battery drain.

Besides that I have noticed that (when ever the battery usage menu in Settings happens to work) the Facebook Messenger app is using a lot of battery - even though I don't use the app.

E: This on my iPhone 5S. Upgraded from 8.3 and restored the backup from iCloud. iPad Air 2 seems to be fine.

Did an update to 9.0b1 and experienced the same issues everyone else has. I decided to try again after reading through posts here and made a slight change in my methodology:

1. Turned off iCloud backup before the update. I backed up via iTunes.
2. Did the update and then restored via iTunes.

I have had better battery life since. Also, my phone is not constantly warm any more. My guess is the iCloud backup is the key here.

Hope this helps!

OK so long story short ...
My phone - IP6+

I had iOS 8.3 all setup at time of iOS 9 Beta release so just updated it and got the Heat treatment! Started disabling things but still didn't work quite as expected.

Reverted to iOS 8.4 Beta 4 and ran is stable for few days. Today disabled all the usual suspects like Background Refresh, Location for Motion Tracking, Traffic, iCloud Drive/Photos and then updated to iOS 9. Its running as cool as a cucumber and battery is stable even without Low Power !

Fingers crossed :D

A friend tried this and he said the battery life is better for him! He's using an iPhone 6. I am going to wait until tomorrow, as Beta 2 would probably be released to us. It usually comes around the 14 day mark.

About 2 days ago I noticed the symbol for my Facebook app was flickering on the homescreen so deleted it and turned off notifications for Facebook and my battery life has increased by about 1/3rd. It's still nowhere near iOS 8 levels but has improved it a bit.

Fingers crossed beta 2 is out tomorrow.:)

I installed IOS 9 on Ipad Air 2, Iphone 6 and Ipad 3. On the Ipad 3 my battery is still 96% after hours. The only difference between those devices is that the Ipad 3 = 32bit and the 6, 6+ Air 2 = 64bit.

How's working on your iPad Air?

I've purchased an iPad Air 2 last week and it came with iOS 8.1.3. I haven't updated to iOS 8.3 yet because based on most of what I read online, it's drains the battery a lot. Since the last full charge it lasted less than 8 hours! And I do not listen to music or watch videos on it. I only use iBook, google something every once in awhile and check my emails occasionally. I'm pretty frustrated and I'm almost returning it.

Should I update to iOS 8.3? I'm considering installing iOS 9 on the iPad Air 2 because of the great results I'm witnessing after installing the Beta on my iPad 4, but then again, both my iPad 4s have always been great like that, the one still running iOS 6 is THE best. I've only spent five days with the Air and I wonder if it's an iOS problem or the device that is a piec of sh*t!

I deeply appreciate any input.

I didn't put the beta on my iPad and don't plan to until the GM is released because I need it for school.

1. 8.3 is great and does not drain the battery a lot, in fact, it's pretty good battery life.
2. This thread is about iOS 9 betas
3. If one is to be so crude as to call an iPad a piece of sh*t than one does not deserve an answer.

Didn't work for me. Yeah, it drains a bit less, but it's still draining. I have done the 8.3->9.0->8-3 like three times since b1 came out, hoping that any of the proposed fixes would work, but they are not. And I'm trying everything because my watch is on OS2, and I need iOS9.

I think this is not only about cellular or iCloud. There are more bugs that drain battery, like that related to background apps (even closed ones) which are still getting a high amount of battery. (e.g Skype, Facebook, and many more in my case, no matter if they are closed).

Fingers crossed, Monday is coming.

My 6 Plus did that on iOS 8.0, when the display was on and I was consuming data somehow (be it Spotify or Maps, etc.). Sometimes devices wind up using more power than they're being given and they lose charge while charging. Not too crazy, actually.

Also, none of these fixes have made much of an impact for me. Alas, as others have said—Monday is coming.
