Adguard, known for their browser extensions and desktop solution, also released a content blocker.
Adguard - ad blocker and privacy protection app' van Performix

AdGuard is good software. I've been using before discovering uBlock (same creator of Purify). Don't know if uBlock is as good as uBlock Origin (Firefox and Chrome, not available for Safari) but it is better than AdGuard at CPU use. It's noticeable when I visit bloated websites.

Yes and really see no problems with it - It seems to block everything I'd like to have blocked.

Honestly, before I change I'm going to wait a while (a couple of months maybe) to see what settles out and who the longer term winner is before I make a change - I went for years without this capability on my iphone and iPad so I an wait a little bit longer

I've gone back to Crystal. Purify stopped blocking Amazon ads on one site I use, Adblock Fast hasn't been updated. Crystal doesn't block cookie warnings, which is annoying, but it's great for everything else.

Would love to see a review for Adguard. Seems to have to most filters of all adblockers out there.

Crystal randomly stopped working, but luckily I was able to kick start it by disabling and then re-enabling it.

I will say this, I didn't fully realize how bad mobile ads are until you spend some time without them. Several blogs have become nearly unusable without crystal running. I'm not even sure what site owners hope to achieve with that much bloat, it's a great way to make your readership give up on you, which ultimately isnt much better for business than people sidestepping ads.

I hope they do implement a whitelist for responsible advertisers though. I'd love to see content creators get their compensation through non-intrusive advertisers, and the ****** spyware ones can shrivel and die.

It seems many sites are now countering these content blocker apps. When they first came out, 95% of ads were blocked. It's now like a 50% chance and an ad galore. :(

I think it will end up in a continious race between advertisers and adblockers.

I agree. There are some sites I don't visit anymore because they have more ads than text.

The more ads than text is what started this whole thing for me. When there were only a couple of ads and sites were usable I didn't bother with blockers anywhere. Now it has gotten ridiculous which is why I block all I can and don't feel bad about it.

Just for information: I tried CNN and Forbes websites on my iPhone, reported as not loading using Purify, and as of today they work flawlessly.

BTW I have another question for you: is there anyone using more than one ads blocker at the same time ? Do you have issues / conflicts between them ?

So what do people use for chrome? Wondering, going to try my first ad blocker ever.
Nope. I don't see any reason to use Chrome on an Apple device TBH

This might be a dumb question & apologies if this is the wrong place to post it but I just now became aware of the existence of content blockers for iOS and I'm wondering if there are any that work with Chrome or are all of these strictly Safari? I've been using Chrome on my iPhones forever just because it's my favorite browser for PC but maybe I should switch over?
again, I can't see any particularly good reason to use Chrome on any Apple device....
You should switch away from Google

I personally use Weblock since I found out about it years ago:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/weblock-adblock-for-apps-websites/id558818638?mt=8

It blocks ads across the whole ios device but only on wifi. So when I'm on wifi, it works for Safari, Chrome, and most apps that has ads. I found some rules are too aggressive so I'd switch it off temporarily for problematic sites.

While I don't usually use Chrome on the iOS, it does come handy from time to time. Sometimes I use it to resume looking at tabs on Chrome that I have installed on the work PC or my personal laptop. Usually its just to finish looking at some more technical stuff that I started looking at on the work PC.

Anyone still using crystal?

I still use Crystal. It was the first content blocker I got and while I've tried numerous others, none of them have been as effective at blocking the ads I don't want to see than Crystal has for the websites I view. It's not perfect, but it works better than any of the others I've tried.

I WILL be disabling the "acceptable ads" option when it's finally released.

Been using Crystal since day 1, tried a few others (purify, 1blocker), haven't seen a reason to switch.

For me, Crystal does the job just as well, with a install-and-forget model. Maybe I am biased because I was one of the beta testers, and so the app works particularly well on the websites I do frequent, but like I said, the app is cheap, it does its job well, and I don't understand the acrimony over it or the overwhelming enthusiasm over purify.

Until something changes, I am sticking with Crystal.
