For the time being, I've settled back with Magic. It's still not perfect but it works the best for what I need of it so far.

Adguard was actually working very well for a while and then it stopped working properly on some sites, notably NFL.com, and hasn't been able to fix the problem for several weeks (maybe even a month now to this point) despite reporting the issue and even having feedback coming back on trying it again now with updated filters or putting in a user filter.

AdGuard still breaks a lot of picture slideshows on many many pages.

Could you please tell where exactly?

Also I remember that your filters list is pretty huge. More filters your use, more requests blocked, bigger chance of the incorrectly blocked content. If you want to have less broken pages, stick to default set of filters.

Huh, sorry for this, seems they have considered the problem fixed while videos in articles are still broken:

@wchigo, nfl.com is fixed now. Sorry for the enormous delay, it is not how it should be.
Thanks, looking good so far. Part of it might have been an issue in the OS as well. I was still getting the 'Read More' button and 'What else you may like' spots on my iPhone but when I tried on my iPad Mini those issues weren't present. I restarted my iPhone with Adguard active and I no longer see those items.

It's odd because it seemed to only be an issue with Adguard in that instance? When I would switch to Magic it would be fine, but any time I switched back to Adguard the issues would come back... almost as if an older version of Adguard was "saved to memory" and that was the one being pulled up every time I activated Adguard.

Anyways, issue seems to be fixed and thanks for following up on the video issue. I'm gonna run Adguard again for a little while and see how it runs, because it was always very promising in my opinion.

Well I am using the default ones :).
Still a lot of broken videos and picture slideshows.

Just guessing, but it may be that when the content blocker is disabled in Safari settings, its updated version cannot be applied.

We'll check it on our side:

Please tell me where exactly are these broken videos and slideshows?
I still want this to be fixed, but it's hard to guess the websites:)

Nope. Video is working fine. There are some ads but now they seem to be gone. Strange. From time to time some ads show on wwe.cetin.ro.
Also on idevice.ro i can see blank placeholders where ads used to be.

Do you plan on adding reporting through other mail apps? I use Outlook and when I try to report something it says no email account set up.
Any hints on the next update?:)

Hm, and what was broken by the German filter there?

I've filed a feature request:
https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardForiOS/issues/70

Planned on v1.1 for now.

Any hints on the next update?:)

Next update, v1.0.5. We will fix that "random broken background update" issue.
After that v1.1 - we will add a "select & block element on the page" feature.

German filter was breaking picture slideshows... You know pictures that you can browse in an article:).
Thanks!

Thanks but it's still there. Weird stuff is that now it detects the ad-blocker and displays a message to disable it.
On Ipad it's working fine, no ad-block detection but blank placeholder still there.
I have cleaned Safari cache, disabled and enabled the blocker... no use :).
Do I do something wrong?

It is with Adguard for Windows?:) Please specify OS, browser and Adguard version/type for problems.

Check this rules
Code:
idevice.ro#%#var AG_AntiAntiBlock = function() { var baseCreateElement = document.createElement; document.createElement = function(name) { if (name && name.match(/div|font|center/i)) { return null; } else { return baseCreateElement(name); } } };
idevice.ro#%#AG_onLoad(function() { AG_AntiAntiBlock(); });
idevice.ro##iframe[src="https://www.idevice.ro/brush.html"]
idevice.ro##iframe[src="https://www.idevice.ro/count.html"]
idevice.ro##.getsocial
The first two rules not for Safari extension.

I don't understand - do you get the antiadblock message, or do you see ads placeholders?
We can't remove placeholders in iOS, because Anti-AdBlock script looks for visibility of HTML element div[id="adsense"]

"Today the company is overhauling its mobile browser for iPhone and iPad with a new rendering engine: WKWebView. That's the same engine that powers Apple's own Safari browser on iOS" - Chrome browser

Still does not support content blockers, so I don't see the point of using it.

Is there an adblocker that gets rid of the app adverts that come down from the top of mobile sites and the EU cookie stuff? I've been using Crystal since iOS9 and it doesn't get rid of those things.

I don't think content blockers have the ability to block app adverts, but there are at least a few that are able to remove EU cookie notices. Adguard and Magic are the first two that come to mind since they are free and are generally the most talked about in this forum. With Adguard you have to enable the Prebake filter and with Magic you have to enable the "Block EU Cookie Notices" option in the app's Advanced Settings.

I get the anti adblock message only on Iphone. On Ipad the site loads fine without any placeholders.

The app adverts are html meta tags, content blockers can't block them.
