Looks like Aduard is the best blocker out there but it is a big app for my tastes. Anyone know a good lightweight blocker? Purify seems to be the lightest but has not been updated since December. Thanks!

As in being about 35 MB bigger? Is that something that has a noticeable effect on something?

1Blocker is the fastest to render pages in Safari in my own tests. Faster than Purify and Adguard (that I still keep as backup. There are many other ones that I've deleted after testing.)

F-secure adblocker (very fast!) + f-secure freedome vpn: best combo for privacy and ads!

You have almost convinced me into removing "how to" videos from the app:)
[doublepost=1468171535][/doublepost]

Now I see it, thank you!

We'll handle it in the Annoyances filter:
https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardFilters/issues/2561
Would it be feasible to remove the how-to videos from the app but include a link to them for viewing in a web browser? This would reduce the size of the app but still allow easy access to the videos. I mean, if you're not online (no access to videos), then the content blocker would be of little use anyway, right?

I started with crystal and purify. Then I tried adblock plus and many more ad blockers on iOS. I then discovered Adguard. At first I saw a lot of broken websites or ads not being blocked, I did sent them an e-mail (you can do it within the app itself). I did get a reply and it was fixed within 24 hours. I was amazed for such a great support. Because I have e-mailed purify developer so many times, he never ever responded and fixed the broken websites. From that day I started to report advertisement to the Adguard team and also my ideas to make the app better. They are awesome.

Keep it up Adguard!

Hi all!

I have an important announcement. Today we have started beta testing of our new product - Adguard DNS.

Here is a post about it in our blog:
https://blog.adguard.com/en/adguard-news/adguard-dns-beta.html

What it does:
* Blocks ads, trackers, malware and phishing and adult websites (optionally)
* It does not track you (unlike OpenDns and Google DNS)
* It is completely free

Ok, so, what does it have to do with Adguard for iOS you may ask?

The very first version of Adguard Pro will allow you to use Adguard DNS on your device. Therefore, advertising and tracking servers will be blocked system wide. You will not need to set it up manually, just turn it on in Adguard Pro app. What's important: Adguard is the only way to change your DNS settings when you're on cellular data. For those familiar with Android: this approach is similar to the hosts-file ad blocking (adaway and such).

Adguard Pro beta test starts in the end of this week. I'll make an announcement when it's ready.

And one more thing: this is just a beginning, we have a huge todo list. So, let's hope AG Pro passes the AppStore review, this will be a sign that we can proceed with system wide ad blocking.

but we will have to configure a profile?
or installing adguard pro is enough to change DNS settings on my iPhone (cellular data)?

Here(-ish)
@avatar-adg , I tried out AdGuard for about a week, and it seemed to be working ok, but then (not long after installing 9.3.3 on my iDevices) many ads started getting through, especially ads from AdChoices. The content blocker just wasn't doing its job.

I've got back to Purify and the ads disappeared again.

It seems that you need to refresh AG content blocker after OS update (for instance manually check filter updates).

It could be an iOS bug and as stated in this bug report this issue is not specific to Adguard:
https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158874

Although no reaction from Apple yet.
