if no gm arrives on the 9th +/- 1 day ill be hunting for u with a pitchfork

It historically always has. I was more so hinting at the fact that because there was a pre-determined ticker built into Beta 5, is an indicator that the GM has been wrapped up for some time.

3:15 AM in the morning, that funny message popped up. I once was not notified of the new iOS7 betas and was left with a bricked phone because I hadn't a mac near me to update this mess. Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?

It's concerning bc I don't want the beta to expire and then I lose all
Of my data. That's why it's concerning. I have a backup of 8.4 but I'd lose everything I've had since then.
It won't expire before GM or public release, especially with a public beta. They'd release an update with an extension before letting it expire. Because the GM is probably going to be released this week (along with the iPhone announcements) that probably isn't needed.

I had the same message pop up when my alarm went off at 3.50am this morning (Monday, UK time). I accidentally dismissed it without thinking as I had just woken up and was half conscious. Definitely not a troll from the OP and was exactly the reason I visited MacRumors today to see if anyone else had it pop up. Unfortunately, going into the Software Update menu on the iPhone shows that the device is currently up to date.

Exactly. If not, then we would have seen an incremental beta build update simply to extend the expiry date.

Happened to me late last night. Managed to capture a screen shot. Went into general but nothing. I assume its just Apple readying GM releases and accidentally communicated it. I think you'll see a GM on Wednesday after the media event with a public launch probably along side pre order date.

I think it was pre-set in the beta. I have an iOS device with the beta installed which has been in airplane mode for about a week and it also got the pop up without any network connection.

I'm sure it's 7 days, as saw something like this with the iOS 5 beta back in the day.

It's definitely a software trigger, as I've said. Though sometimes I swear people ignore any posts that provide answers....
Don't think there were any reminders of this type before, especially associated with expirations. Given how many threads there have been in the past about people's phones basically just locking up due to expires betas and no warning or knowledge on their part that thst would happen (unlike a daily popup warning like this, for example).

How long are you people gonna post that you got the pop up? I mean...this thread is 12 pages and everybody posts the same ****.
Everyone's got to comment on what happened to them and their confusion (rather than the simple thing of just coming here and seeing this thread and reading a bit of it and getting what happened just from that, without adding something that doesn't contribute anything).

I guess, when Apple released beta 5, they must have planned the event for 6th Sept, but then due to some unavoidable reasons the event may have been pushed back by couple of days.

Or... Apple wants us to get hyped for the event so we can all go crazy when they announce the GM!!

So I was messing around with the date on my phone and I noticed a weird pop up about beta iOS 9 appear but I dismissed it by accident before reading it. So I tried the same thing on my iPad and got the attached pop up. Anybody else seeing this? Does it mean that the GM may be coming tomorrow??!! I've never seen this in betas before.

Try this on your iOS 9 beta 5 device and let me know if you see it.

What do you guys make of this?

I NEVER GOT "THE MESSAGE"? Am I not going to get iOS 9? Or is this like the opposite of that Ring film and it means I'm gonna die soon and so they didn't bother to send it to me? Perhaps the world is gonna end!! SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!

(I did get the message really. Would someone like to see a screen grab?)

It's not a push update from Apple. It's a baked in notification. As repeatedly stated.

Are people not bothering to read the thread? Even the last few pages...?!

There were betas with no notifications, which meant people had bricked phones, but there was one where there was. Thought it was iOS 5, could be later.
