Did you see that Nintype is being forced to remove its calculator feature? Did you use it all? http://www.cultofmac.com/306819/apple-forces-nintype-drop-one-ios-keyboards-signature-features/

It seems Apple decides again to allow it after all as you can read in this tweet from the developer of Nintype. It could be that it will be available back in the keyboard earlier next year because Apple won't review/approve anything around Christmas.

It seems another keyboard is coming via a Kickstarter project called 'Next Keyboard'. See also a preview here. It has e.g. swiping features.

I love Flesky keyboard. Loved it on my Galaxy S5. On my iPhone 6 Plus, not so much. I only have 2 keyboards enabled. Flesky and a GIF keyboard. Sometimes Flesky will crash and bring up the stock Apple keyboard which I do not have enables. This happens quite often. A few times an hour. It's annoying. Hopefully Flesky or Apple (whoever is at fault for this bug) fixes this soon.

Having the same issues with fleksy. Sometimes it doesn't even load at all and I'm stuck without a keyboard across the system. It also crashes iMessage on a regular basis and it takes forever to load.

I have tried swift and that keyboard has the same issues so I expect this to be simply poor implementation on apple's part. We are at 8.1.2 now and still no fix. Holding my breath for 8.2 but to be honest I think we won't see a fix until 9.0

Question

If I change swiftkey out for another keyboard, like I mean delete the keyboard off the settings part, does that also delete the words it's learnt? So I use it again does it have to learn from scratch?

It shouldn't. If you go into the settings and deactivate it, it just turns it off. If you delete the app completely, then you will lose the words that it learns unless you turn on the cloud feature and gave it full access when you were using it.

The landscape typing issues I'm having are mostly app related. The Google+ app just got updated and landscape typing is working without issues on this app. I'm still having landscape typing issues on Lync.

I love Swiftkey because I can have 2 languages at the same time :) but I miss the themes in the Android version, any word of they plan to add more or is something to do with ios?

iOS 8 Custom Keyboard Megathread

I love Swype but it has some flaws at the moment in ios. Been using it with Android and it works perfectly with Android devices. With ipad it works odd sometimes and seems to be with some apps or text boxes/fields in browsers for example. When my keyboard layout is using my language and im typing in english (not swyping of course), swype sometimes (depending on apps/text fields) start to autocorrect my typing and not only autocorrecting it but also trying to "translate" it because of autocorrection. And the autocorrection is turned off! It's driving me nuts...

Does anyone know of a keyboard for the iPad that is similar to that of the 6 Plus, like with the copy/paste and especially, navigation arrows? Thanks!

I've been playing around with 3rd party keyboards since the second ios8 came out and I got my iPhone 6. Been rotating between Touch Pal, Swype and SwiftKey.

But I think I'm done for now.

I've finally given the native Quick Type keyboard more than a passing chance and honestly, it's pretty pretty good. I was so excited about the prospect of other keyboards that I really never gave it due diligence. It seems more accurate than the other keyboards, and we know how much it better integrates into the OS.

I still love the idea of 3rd party keyboards (especially 1-handed "swyping) but for now I'm going to see if I can stick to what "just works."

I was pretty much sold out for Swype till they broke shortcut support with last update. Use TouchPal now till they are back on track

I'm switching between Nintype, MD Keyboard, and TextExpander. I probably could ditch TextExpander and do what I do with it with Nintype, and the same thing with MD Keyboard, but that's too crazy for my brain to deal with. :p

Nintype comes with a nice note app. That alone is worth at least $2.99 because of how customizable it is, has custom actions too, I'm not sure if it's like Drafts because I haven't played with them yet and they leave you a blank canvas. The keyboard has all these weird settings for shortcuts. I actually have my .com button set to input my e-mail, phone number, and address.

MD Keyboard (by the guys who make UpWord Notes or whatever they're calling themselves now, heh) is like iKeywi, but is mostly geared towards Markdown. I have numbers for the first row, the usual ', ", #, *, @, [], and / as the next, and then time, date, blockquote, image, and link snippets, along with < and >. I tried adding additional stuff, but they were too heavy for it at this point.

Does anyone on here use the path keyboard? I notice if you are typing(not swiping) that it randomly puts multiple characters or words on the screen. Have to bsckspace to delete them or go very slow when I type. Also no suggestions when typing. Any way to fix? I really like this keyboard but seem to have this issue all the time.
