Noticed something in the latest EverythingApplePro iPhone 7 leak video. He's using a screenshot (obviously a mock up) that shows an identical Dock visual change to what I had made.

That's the old News app icon, the one in the beta has changed. Also there is no longer a search glyph on the left of the pagination dots.

Not relevant to what I said at all. Nor was I saying "look! Proof the dock is changing!"

I was mearly pointing out the dock rounded corners that are similar to my mock up of what Apple could do to make it match other iOS 10 visual changes.

Right and I was mentioning the leak as I assumed you think this was "coming" in some way. The idea is not new or great. The current dock doesn't need changing as the rest of iOS does.

lagwagon was commissioned to design the leak screenshots :p

I never said the actual image was a leak. Wow. I said look at what I saw in a video about iPhone 7 leaks. Not look at the leak of the dock change. I only mentioned the content of the video to describe the actual video. Not saying in anyway the screenshot of the dock was a leak. Just pointing it out to say, "hey someone else also thinks it should maybe be changed in a similar way as well." (The EverythingApplePro guy had to have gotten it from somewhere.)

The dock design as mentioned earlier is hideous. It's enough that the widgets page has this look, the dock doesn't need it. In regards to that screenshot, someone had the same idea as you I guess, but the image is all out of whack.

Cool, I don't care about your opinion. I wasn't looking for your feedback. Just sharing a thought. Thanks for your valuable contribution.

Hopefully the design ideas for a new dock shared in this thread never come to fruition. They are, to my eye, confusing.

The confusion is that it makes the dock look like a widget. Widgets have clickable areas (the widget name, pieces of information that the widget shows). Widgets can expand in size. The dock is simply meant to set off the up-to-four most commonly used apps.

It think someone is likely to, or already has (jumped the end of thread), reference the Spotlight search design. I think that this is a terrible comparison. The Siri Suggested Apps (the closest analog to the dock) is an expandable area - just like the widgets that it's meant to resemble.

Also, OP, I think it's fair to say that you were looking for all our opinions. Why else would you post this to a message board and ask for feedback?

First away, put away the NaCl and realise that if the new design was indeed "hideous", Apple wouldn't have used it for the widget view or notification centre in iOS 10.

What the OP was suggesting was a way to tweak the dock to make the iOS 10 experience more consistent. Whether you think iOS 10's design language is "hideous" or not is irrelevant.

Please. Show me where I asked for feedback. I was just sharing a thought. An idea based around the current dock looked to me out of place with all the design element changes in iOS 10. And I even mention in the OP that I just wanted to share the idea. Nothing more, nothing less. So get over yourself. I really don't care if you think it's ugly and I am sorry you get confused over such a simple thing though. Who knew rounded corners would make someone forget what a dock is.

I really like the look of the original idea, but I also like the idea others raised of making it swipeable. Maybe as a sort of mini folder? If Apple ever did something like this, I wouldn't mind only 2 screens of 4 or 5 icons maybe. I know my wife for example likes to only have the top two rows on her phone taken up with icons so she can as much of her wallpaper as possible. As a result having a double page of icons along the bottom to quickly access most used apps could be handy in SOME circumstances.

Someone got a lil butt hurt here.. don't get so defensive! ! Besides, it's only a beta. Things will change

Wtf does "it's only a beta, things will change" have to do with the thread or anything you keep quoting? That's twice now now you've said the exact same thing. Are you lost on which thread you're in or something?

You're reading comprehension isn't very good is it? You saying that over and over three times now, when it has nothing at all to do with the thread topic or even the posts you've quoted is hilarious.
I think it's fair to say that you opened up for opinions when you made this thread and shared your work. The other assumptions however, I don't understand.
Dude it's a beta, it means it's an UNFINISHED product. Wait till iOS 10 full release
It being a beta doesn't mean he can't share his design idea or opinion.

Well, sure. I'd be happy to point out where you asked for feedback. Just scroll to the top of this page and you'll find a title. It'll have something like the word forum in it. Here, I'll wait while you go ahead.

Ok, you're back. Great. So, now I'll need you to just take that word forum and go find a large book called a dictionary. Now you're not going to be able to scroll this, but you'll find that it's plenty well organized. Go ahead and find that word forum. Again, take all the time you need.

Yes! You made it back! Good times, right? That feeling of learning something new? Man, just bask in it.

Forum : a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

See the word "ideas"?

That's exactly what I did. Shared an idea. In no way does that mean I was seeking feedback. Just sharing something or wanting feedback are two COMPLETELY different things. Sorry. Thank you. Try again.

You shared your hate, now move along if you don't like the idea. No one forced you to look.

I think it's hilarious the OP is trying to say he never intended to receive feedback. Throw it up on your portfolio or something, you spent time trying to convince us all of your idea and mocking it up several times on OSX and iOS.

I think it's fair to say you're offended.

You exchanged your idea and it return received ours. That's literally what the forum is for, not your personal creative dump.

Yes a few minutes at a time per mockup for something someone asked to see is totally trying to convince people.

Stop clogging up harmless threads with your useless hate filled posts.

Your idea is terrible, that's my honest opinion. You're the king of clogging up threads around here, let's be clear on that. I guess you never received criticism in your life.

No that is not part of my "proposal". It falls more in line with other iOS 10 aesthetic changes. Less things are edge to edge now in iOS 10 (as I mentioned in the OP. Notifications, Widgets and Control Centre) and the obvious rounded corners.

You called your post a "proposal".

Proposal - noun
a plan or suggestion, especially a formal or written one, put forward for consideration or discussion by others.

I think there is a reason Apple it moving away from edge to edge UI elements. They have done the same with Apple Watch. When they eventually move to oled screens the no boundaries will look great with their new dark mode. I see this dock as something that could happen.
