Some great replies.

I think iOS started moving from ‘just works’ to where we are today when they introduced the plus models, it started small with no one-handed keyboard on such a large device and progressed from there taking a further downturn when the X and notch/gestures appeared. It no longer just works and has not for some time and there is some android esque fragmentation on show now with the different models (nowhere near as bad of course)

@JadedMonkey is correct that the whole app sandbox thing is an issue Apple cannot easily resolve but then on the flip side it is one of the reasons why iOS is better than android for privacy and usually better for general battery life too, most droids have to pack a 5000ma battery to compete these days.

I have said before that not much needs changing but in reality to make those few changes would likely require an overhaul. Apple will have to do it at some point though as what people expect from their mobile devices continues to move forward and Android gets better and better each year.

And it's crazy for us europeans how dependent you are on iMessage. It's rarely used here in Germany.
Agreed, we use Whatsapp or other cross platform chat apps (I know I know, it's Facebook...) Just wish Android had a core messaging app that wasn't SIM dependent.

My main issue with iOS is the dam annoying home bar, after years I don’t need it there when I know how to use my phone it makes the screen uneven and in games it stays when touched it should allow us to hide it

Interesting post, I have actually moved from Android to iOS recently, stopped using iPhone when I had iPhone 6 and started to use Samsung devices, one of the things I hated was only 2 year updates after that you would get occasional security update but nothing regards the UI, daughter had a 2nd hand 6s that still can get latest iOS 😳, I’m not kid to worry how my display look etc so customisation is not something I need to have but simplicity is a must, after owning few galaxy devices I switched now to iPhone 12 and been honest best thing I done, I’m not a heavy phone user apart from taking some photos, email, a lot of voice calls as I prefer talking then writing and general internet use I don’t use phone for nothing else but I do miss always on display as you could easily see if someone called or txt etc. For me iOS feels bit simpler but I guess is like with everything all depends what you use your device for. Do to my work I use lot of hands free calling/ voice dialling etc and Siri wins hands down compare to google assist specially when using Bluetooth devices, not sure why but it just works, press a button on Bluetooth Siri pops up say what I want to do and it gets done, on my last android device which was S9 sometimes I had to do it 5 times before the google assist did wake the phone up.
