Apple Maps at it's peak design.

Not going to lie. How cool is that? 🚀

Went for a first drive with iOS 17 DB5/PB3 yesterday and the map movement & transitions looked quite jerky. It was as if AM would refresh itself at a rate of, say, 5 frames per second, versus previous “normal” 10 fps, making whatever was displayed on the CarPlay screen appear less fluid. Was it my iPhone or had someone else noticed it too?

Not seeing that at all here.

Keep forgetting to take a pic, but new “you’ve arrived” box on CarPlay with detailed address, location like “on your left” ….

Is it just ChargePoint that is providing live EV data right now?
I can't see any in Australia, nor anything but ChargePoint in the US.
Still nothing but ChargePoint live data in Apple Maps, after checking Australia, New Zealand, some countries in Europe, and the United States

Just saw on the Apple Maps thread on Reddit. Hadn't noticed this yet...but not typically in areas with spotty coverage.

Maps will prompt you to download offline Maps when it knows you may be driving through an area with little to no coverage. Another comment mentioned it prompted them to download offline maps as well since their scheduled showed they were leaving for another country.

That’s a smart feature.

Now…where’s our Look Around?!?!?

Can someone with an EV please confirm the following: in ios 17 start a route using CarPlay, then add a stop by searching for EV chargers and see if they show up along the route overview similar to iOS 16? It’s not showing for me in the UK and it did in iOS 16.
Thanks in advance!

Do you have a Mach-E or a Taycan?

Yeah I don’t think it works unless you have a Taycan or Mach-E. I have a Cupra Born and it certainly doesn’t. But Apple Maps/CarPlay does know it’s in an electric car as it displays EV Chargers as you drive past and they’re at the top of list in search. I didn’t tell it this, so it must know through the connection to the car.

Does Maps/CarPlay even support EV routing without being synched or partnered with the OEM's information/app??
Oo you’ve got me thinking now.. I’m certain it used to show me chargers on route when I searched for them in iOS 16. Just to clarify I don’t mean it automatically displays them along the route when battery is low as with ev routing. Might have to reinstall 16.6 to check if I’m going mad 😆

BMW as well…

I kinda wish Maps would *stop* showing EV chargers so prominently while navigating. I have no use for them at the moment. And Maps seems to prioritize showing them even while not showing the actual POI the chargers belong to.

Hmmmm...I don't think I ever see them??

It looks like DCE might be expanding outward from the current New York-area boundaries! Eastward to perhaps the Nassau/Suffolk County border, and northward to northern Westchester County and at least part of Rockland County.

If this is true, it would be very exciting, because it would mark the first time an existing DCE area has been expanded. And it would also no doubt include an expansion of Look Around.

If I had to take a guess, I would wager this will launch alongside iOS 17.

I believe a LOT of work has been going on in the background lately. Today, map quadrants were very slow to load, even on a clean signal.

That’s good news. But still pathetic.

Edit: I’ve now read the Reddit post. I’m hopeful that it may be broader than just the area you described. It appears to be into Connecticut (Stamford), which gives me hope that the rest of Fairfield County is included as well.
