this is because apple's servers are slammed. If you get this error, take a break and try again in a few hours or tomorrow and it will work.
if apple knew what they were doing, this wouldn't have happened in the first place. And yeah, it is apple's fault.
Speculation points to this just being related to Apple's servers being overloaded, and some users are seeing success after multiple attempts.
At this point, simply waiting and retrying seems to be the best solution.
Yes, it does seem to be a server issue. I tried literally a couple dozen times using every fix I found on every thread on the internet to no avail.
Here's what I did differently that finally worked ...
I went to lunch, came back and tried "one more time" and it went through without a hitch. Nothing different this time on the computer or the iphone (and didn't even restart this time). Ten minutes later, it's currently "restoring music and videos."
Can anyone help me please?
My iphone is literally just a brick now, the screen is blank and itunes keeps asking me to restore it but it just keeps failing. Must of tried at least 20 times! what should I do?
Pleaseeeee help
tried four times, no luck yet.
always the internal error.
So ********** annoying that it has to reb-ackup every time. thats stupid, it takes 15 mins every time for me
So I shouldn't click update but restore? You don't have to backup each time. Once the iOS5 file has been downloaded, just click Restore; when prompted if you want to backup, choose no. The upgrade will still probably fail, but at least it takes a lot less time!
The most painful and frustrating part about this is that the backup runs EVERY time and it takes forever. Each time I try to get the software loaded it takes me 30 minutes. ARGGGGh.
I have now tried 4 times over the last 4 hours. I am on #5 right now, hopefully 5th time will be the one!
Facebook make it only available to a certain number of people per day. The update went flawless although some people couldn't get it on the very first day and had to wait until the 3rd day. It sure was a lot better than this typical Apple BS.
