Worked on 2nd try

Installed IOS 5.0 on iPad earlier in the day with no problems.

Then tried with iPhone 4 and got 3200 error. Error occurred after downloading IOS 5.0 and just as iTunes was communicating with iPhone.

Here's what worked for me:

1. Unplugged iPhone from USB port and rebooted iPhone.
2. Closed and reopened iTunes.
3. Reconnected iPhone. It gave me message saying IOS 5.0 upgrade available but I cancelled this.
4. Forced a normal sync process.
5. Then clicked Update to IOS 5.0
6. iTunes immediately began communicating with iPhone and update proceeded without problems. Appeared that it still had download of IOS 5.0 in memory as it did not have to download again before updating the iPhone.
7. IOS 5.0 installation completed successfully.

Just finished the security update (Snow Leopard) and trying again... Don't know if it's just coincidence but the update appears to be working now.

Fingers crossed :)

just keep trying

It will work, you just have to keep trying, I tried updating more than 8 times without changing anything. Finally went through.

error 3200 possible fix

OK! sooo -got error 3200 like 10 times, tried

reboot phone
reboot sh#y PC @ work
airplane mode
coworkers cable
and kicked my PC, slightly.

then, I unplugged a logitech cam so only my keyboard/mouse and iphone were pluggen into USB and

BAM

1st try.... good luck!:)

Just keep trying. I changed usb ports and restarted itunes, rebooted pc/ipad
3 times. working now. I think that it is traffic

It's really just getting through to the server. I tried a few times, didn't do anything, and it eventually worked.

Add me to the club. Error while back-upping as a part of restoring as a part of upgrading to 5.

Im just gonna try again tomorrow.

iTunes has been stuck on the ''Verifying iPad restore with Apple...'' for 20 mins now.

What should I do?

This is FACKING BRUTAL. Main problem I am having is that the backup takes over an hour.

How are people trying this 10 times in an hour? Im having trouble trying it 2 times in the last 3 hours

Instead of check for update, hit restore. When asked to make backups, make backups.

Wipe iPhone, reinstall firmware, iOS5 goes on, and your backups restored. Turn on phone, iOS5

It still needs to contact the authentication server.

Kept hitting restore again after getting the 3200 error. After the 5th try, its finally working.. didn't do any of the suggested tricks.
