I consider myself one of the Apple Fanboys and have no trouble saying it but I am very subjective when it comes to products.

I once myself decided to leave my dear iphone and went Galaxy S for a while and can say i enjoyed it a lot for about 6 months until i started to get really fed up with it and went back to iphone and have never looked back.

I can truly say that ICS definitely looks good and appealing specially if you still don't own a smartphone or are easily swayed by new shiny things that move and look pretty. I accept that things like FACE DETECTION is although unnecessary a cool feature that most will never use but it still looks and sounds cool. Same for the app drawers and popup stuff on your home screen that look pretty good.

Unfortunately after myself owning an Android Samsung phone i can say that whenever i see all this stuff...widgets...multiple screens...clocks...drawers...etc. all i see is BATTERY DRAIN....all i see is people running around with multiple batteries or buying those huge bulky batteries off Ebay that give you extra juice in order to allow all this running stuff in the background. This is one of the reasons i like Iphone...although many here complain of battery problems the lack of all this stuff just working all day at the same time makes a huge difference for battery life.

Iphone 4S suffers from battery drain(More than usual) right now, so what is your point?

Man I just got the iPhone 4S but I gotta admit Galaxy Nexus with ICECREAMSANDWICH took iOS 5.0 and the iPhone 4S to the woodshed!

Google really step up the competition! I am surprised Google's premier device wasn't made but Motorola though......
Although the Moto Droid RAZR looked nice it didnt run ICS like Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I also like the ROBOTO features of ICS!

Isn't Roboto just a font? or am I missing something?

Fancy font and theming concept is great. But what else have they come out with that really makes the user experience particularly better than iOS 5?

Nothing. There is nothing in ICS that makes me think 'Wow, I really need to go get one of these phones, it will make the experience with my mobile device better than iOS.'

For current Android users, it's probably sweet. For others, nothing groundbreaking. I'd pick a newer Windows phone over it, to be honest.

The 5MP camera on the Galaxy Nexus is a deal breaker though. It's kind of a puzzling decision given that Galaxy SII is 8MP.

I bet the Galaxy Nexus does much worse on battery drain. The Galaxy SII gets pretty mediocre battery as it is, and it has bigger capacity than the Nexus. The Nexus with its huge HD screen is going to be a monster juice sucker.

And my 4S battery does just fine.

What about iOS 5.0 made u say wow? What about the iphone 4S made you say wow?

That Fact that Google changed up the entire General look of the OS, and answered the user's concerns, corrected OS issues, made it more fluid, and brought lots of new technology to the OS while delivering a Damn good looking device that has the latest Advanced hardware and software features.
Very Good update!
Google did much better that apple did this year as for as software releases and product updates.

Battery life will be hard to completely master for any device in the near future when dealing with a 1280x720p HD screen, dual-core technology and LTE 4G. I will just order two batteries and keep a fully charged battery on my desk incase i need it :)

We don't know if Facial Recognition on ICS will detect faces only and not pictures. Don't jump to conclusions please.

It's not jumping to conclusions. It's a fact of standard face recognition technology that it is not possible to distinguish a photo from the actual face. This is because, of course, ultimately the computer/phone is just analyzing a photo that it takes from its own camera to do the recognition. It has no way of telling whether there is an actual 3D human in front of it.

If it had a Kinect sort of device on the phone, then it could do something more intelligent.

I think FRT would mostly be good for people who are too lazy / don't really need to passcode or swipe sequence to lock their phones, but wouldn't mind the additional security if it were seamless and didn't slow them down (it's a big if, but if the FRT were pretty fast).

I think ICS has some nice updates. It was surprising that ICS also seems to add a few things here and there that have been in iOS forever (I wonder if Android forums have threads from users kvetching about Android lacking things Apple has had for a long time). Hopefully some of the innovations will spurn Apple to borrow them, much as Android undoubtedly has borrowed things from iOS.

I think the biggest issue for Android is figuring out what to do with the patchwork updating system. A week after a new iOS comes out, 25% of users have updated; a week after a new version of Android comes out, there will still be new devices being sold that ship with Android 2.3 and have no upgrade path.

and how many people use Passcode lock on iPhone (answer is not many)

Is it perfect no. Is it a heck of a lot better than nothing. Hell yes it is. Really biggest reason I would use it is not for the lock screen part but more for easier time unlocking the phone with out having to do the sliding part.

Just watched the Galaxy Nexus keynote...and besides it being SO boring I couldn't watch the whole thing, the stand out moments were when the face unlock didn't work on stage, and when the voice keyboard demonstrated that it still sucks and doesn't work. Overall it looks like they decided this time to rip off Windows Phone and the new blackberry instead of iPhone...great. I just ordered my iPhone 4S.....Android still sucks.

based on your post you went in looking for a reason to bash it. I found it to be much better than Apple's joke of an event. I find Apple keynotts crap to watch.

This was not some event for show boating like Apple's keynots turned into. You clearly had no real interested in the Android or ICS. You just were looking for a reason to bash it.

The microphone missed ONE word. I have seen Siri screw up more and top it off Apple solution is not doing it in real time. You have to speak and wait.

^^^

Judging from the fact that the voice keyboard input is not really a digital assistant, I would say it's really impressive in what it does, especially in real time.

I've read that the facial unlock failed because they got the phones mixed up.

True but Apple has not voice input. It has a word around and really this is the first time you have it done in real time on a cell phone.

Bashing the voice to text input as crap when it is missed one word when Apple does not have anything close to it in real time.
So if all Apple is is an digital assistant then it is not the same thing.

Nothing in iOS 5 really made me say wow. iTunes Match will be sweet and they have added many features and tweaks that make the experience significantly better, but I wasn't 'wowed'. I didn't need to be as I have been using iOS for years and am generally happy with the platform.

That's why I won't be changing devices. I'd love to have a new phone as I have an iP4 and am not planning to get a 4S. I was hoping that the Nexus with ICS would give me enough incentive (some 'wow!') to jump ship and try something new, but it didn't.

Google did much better that apple did this year as for as software releases and product updates.
They added features that other phones have had for awhile, cheesy new features that don't work well, and implemented prettier colors and fonts.

Every person likes different things. It's cool that you think this is something big. But anyone who is not already an Android backer will not find anything groundbreaking here. They won't find anything notable in ICS that would make them choose Android now any more than they would have two days ago.

Nope, the only reason I watched it was to see if there was anything new in store that would be cool. I had a Droid at one point because I really had faith in Google...they suck at making consumer products...the end. I went in wanting to be blown away and just saw more of the same window dressing on BS code. Boring additions over a boring OS. They keep adding more native apps because the market is full of garbage. I have no faith in android...I really want to see it fail and see the new blackberry OS be the big competition...since it is very solid!

I mean come on...the thing they kept mentioning was their amazing Roboto font!! Seriously...a font is your biggest new feature??? And it looks exactly the same as every other font....big fng deal!

I bolded parts that more prove my point. you went in with not looking for the best. I could go into your other post as well showing examples straight from it that shows you really were not looking for the good.

I could say Apple App store is full of garbage. Heck in all the App stores vast majority of the apps in there are garbage. For ever good app there are at least a 100 crap apps.

You bashed the voice to text thing for missing a single word. It does not even appear you even tried to look for good things in it.

I tried Android when the Thunderbolt came out. Good device. God awful battery life. Other problems as well (not LTE related, software related).

I was hoping this would be a turning point where I could at least consider leaving the iPhone again. It wasn't. I don't know what it would have taken, but nothing shown came even close to me leaving the finish and polish of iOS.
