32GB WiFi+3G: Delayed until May 12 according to MacMall

Called in April, and they said they would receive from Apple on May 4th and I would get it on May 7th..... Called on Monday and they said it was coming a day early and I would receive on May 6th. Called on May 3rd to see if it shipped, and they are now telling me May 12th from Apple, May 14/15 to my home.

I ordered this thing on April 6th -- the night I received the email from them that they had the iPad for sale.

Anybody order a 32GB-WiFi+3G after April 6th and already get it? Just curious. Incidentally, mine still says "Level 0000" -- not sure at all what that means.

Wow that's interesting. I ordered my 3G 64Gb from MacMall on April 27th and got lucky as it shipped on April 30th same day it was released instead of May 4th like they initially told me. I got mine yesterday. Wonder what the issue is with the 3G 32GB stock.

Would you guys recommend this? from this thread I don't know how trustworthy it really is, and does it really give you the ipad in two days without the taxes and shipment fees?

The question is the stock levels and dates they're actually getting them in, not the legitimacy of them. I'm an example of yes, I was charged no tax and yes, I received it in 2 (business) days from when it was shipped.

I actually think it was because I removed the iPad Dock from my order on Monday. I think any order modifications take you from the front of the queue to the back of the queue since it updates your order date (although the order on the external still looks unchanged).

I asked before removing the dock and they assured me that nothing would change and my order would still ship the next day. The same thing happened when they asked if I wanted to add Apple Care to my iMacs.... I added two Apple Care purchases to one of my orders, but left the other iMac order untouched..... one iMac arrived 3 weeks before the other. The one I modified was late.

Lesson learned here -- do not modify your MacMall order after it has been placed. Given that some of you folks ordered in late April and already have your iPads it is extremely frustrating.

So.... is MacMall legit? Absolutely they are. Is their staff competent? I don't think so. I've gotten too many conflicting answers from them in the past, and I am almost certain that removing an item from order screwed my delivery date despite them telling me it would not.

Next time I will let them deliver the item I do not want and just return it.

Other competency issues were evident in those previous iMac orders with their inability to figure out why 32-bit Win-7 came with my VMWare Fusion OEM instead of 64-bit as they promised. I heard 5 conflicting stories before I had to go to a sales manager who fixed the issue. Including them telling me that Win-7 Home does not come in 64-bit, Parallels does not support 64-bit and hence their bundles for VMWare Fusion were also done as 32-bit, and several other garbage things.

So yeah you save some money, and every bit counts, but the customer service is dreadful.

So does MacMall charge shipping for normal delivery (such as UPS ground)?

If I buy it at an Apple store this weekend, if they even have it in stock, I pay sales tax. But no shipping.

If I buy it at www.apple.com, no shipping but sales tax.

macmall would be no sales tax, but what is the shipping?

Thanks

Looks like they removed the "Free 2 Day shipping" from their website. I'm almost certain however that when you call to order you will be given a free UPS Ground shipping option (the rep I spoke with when I ordered told me all Apple products have free shipping), seems like just no longer free 2 Day shipping.

I'm getting pretty frustrated with Macmall. I'm in NJ as well.

I ordered the 16GB 3G on April 28th and today is May 6th. I called them today and they are telling me it's shipping either the 13th of May or the 20th of May.

This is ridiculous.

I should have asked you for the money. I wish I were rich, too. $829 is a lot of money for me. I had to give plasma for the last $100.

[ultra sarcasm] If you're having to give plasma to get money, then for god's sake, make sure you spend it on a necessity like an iPad. [/ultra sarcasm]

(I'm sorry I couldn't pass that up. It's just a joke.)

No but seriously, this is like the 4th or 5th complaint I've heard about them giving customers the runaround with ship dates. That really sucks, and it might very well change where I buy mine as well.

Just called and Macmall has the Wifi 32 in stock, however no free shipping anymore. The ground option is around $16 for most states.

Has anyone received an iPad from macmall lately? I ordered last week and I am waiting.

I ordered a 3G from MacConnection.com and it has not yet shipped. Initially, they said they expected the shipment from Apple on 4/30, then it changed to 5/14, and this is the most recent report. It sounds as if the problem is not with the authorized resellers but with Apple changing their shipment dates. FWIW, I also got my 2010 13" MBP from MacConnection, and the service was great. Well packed, very fast shipment. I expect the same with the iPad, once they actually get it from Apple. And my card has not been charged, they charge when they ship. Shipping is free, no tax.

Mine is coming tomorrow (a couple of hours before we head to St. Thomas for vacation!), and my PayPal account has STILL not been charged! I called on Friday to see if it was gonna ship, and they said their system was down but it would still ship. Mmmmmm..... ? A moral dilemma is developing. I could really use that $829 for vacation.

Wouldn't it be better if you *didn't* get it before your vacation? Think about it. When you receive your iPad you're going to play with incessantly--distracting you from your vacation right? What's the point of going on a vacation if you can hardly wait to get back to your hotel to play with your new toy? Or, carrying it with you everywhere and pulling it out everytime you sit down. Nice conversationalist you'll be. :)

MacMall further delayed

I called MacMall today and my 32GB WiFi+3G order placed on April 6th that was suppose to ship on May 4th, then May 3rd, then May 12th is now shipping May 27th. Amazing how it always changes the day before -- like they are stringing me along. The same thing happened with my iMacs -- I don't think I will ever order a newly released Apple product from a reseller again -- this is ridiculous. Would be better if they were being straight with me, but to have the ship date change the day before each time is really suspicious of trying to keep you from canceling because you are already overly invested.

This stinks -- I am guessing the MacConnection folks are experiencing the same? Let me know if MacConnection is better.

Ordered my 32GB 3G on 4/19. Was told it would ship the release date (4/30). Then they told me a shipment would arrive 5/12. Scared to call now to find out how long. If it's delayed again I will just eat the tax cost and get it from Apple online.

Edit: Just called and they said it wouldn't ship now until 5/20. Cancelled the crap out of that order. Placed an order from Apple directly and the estimated arrival is 5/19-5/25.

Wow That sucks that you guys have still not received your iPads.

I ordered a 64GB+3G from Macmall on April 15th and it was shipped April 30th as promised by Macmall. My rep did tell me when he called to say it shipped that I was one of only 60 who were going to get one. He also said there were another 200 orders that were still waiting.

Cheers

Wow only 60 shipped?? I was SUPER lucky then as I placed my order only 3 days before and was one of the lucky 60 whose shipped on the 30th. I kind of feel bad for swy05 who ordered only 1 day after me and is still waiting albeit a different model.

Now that could be only 60 - 64GB+3G shipped but the rep made it sound like only a total of 60 shipped. I did not question it any further.

On a side note: I received the iPad on the 4th and my CC was not charged until the 7th. I was starting to get excited about a free iPad.

My order was placed on April 6th and still nothing. I ordered the 32GB model though so maybe that is why. They are now telling me May 27th as per my previous post. I've already called my local Apple Store and put one on reserve. If it arrives at Apple Store in the next few days I will go pick it up.

It's funny how 2 different people = 2 completely different experiences with the same place. I'm thinking MacMall is the greatest while I'm sure you hate them by now. I'd certainly cancel my order if I felt they were giving me the runaround and especially if I had to wait as long as you've had to.

Yeah no kidding -- really hit-or-miss.... BTW in the two calls I made after my May 27th quote, I was told May 18th and then May 20th. Bottom-line: they have no idea when it is coming.

I am leaving my order open for now, but I have put the same iPad on reserve at the local Apple Store, so if Apple Store gets it first, I will go pick it up. With MacMall I could be waiting until July for all I know.

MacMall ipad order

I also just ordered 2 Ipad 32gb wifi 3g models on May 17th and was told they would ship on 20th. As of 30 seconds ago still says back order. Did anyone on back order get a shipment notification yet?

I ordered on the 28th of April. I called them this morning and they told me yet again that Apple delayed their allocation to Macmall and that they should be receiving them on the 26th or 27th. Every week I call every week it gets delayed yet again. This just once again confirms that Macmall has absolutely no idea when they'll be getting them in.

I poked a bit and the rep told me that they get shipments in every week but, they are very tiny. At this point, I have no clue as to how the order line is. Another user on here placed their order a day before I did and received their 3G by the end of April. It seems like it's a crapshoot to see when you'll actually receive your order.

There's a good chance we'll be waiting until June or July.

I honestly think we have a better idea of when the Earth will end compared to when Macmall thinks they will receive and start shipping out our orders.

With the word about how some apple stores have large waiting lists, it probably affects everyone. And with the international sales starting soon, Apple is probably stockpiling them for international sales.

Obviously my order which was supposed to be in stock at macmall on the 12th didn't ship :(
