iPad 3G orders from MacMall, MacConnection, etc.

Waiting on mine from Macmall
Ordered mine from Macmall on April 29. Every week I call it seems that the were would be in the following Thursday. I dont know what the thing is with Thursdays. When I called yesterday to check the status, the female rep said it would still ship yesterday, May 20th. When I checked today and it said that the Ipad was delayed and now will ship on May 27th. That I was on the priority list. (heard that lie before). Since its been this long, I debated about order from
store, but that would take at least 3 weeks, I decided to give it one more week. After next week, if it is not in I will just keep my $829.00 AND WAIT FOR HP's Slate.

We have about 5 in DFW. My wife will be going to another one today while she is out and putting our name on that list as well. The point of Macmall was to save a total of $120 in taxes (we are getting two 32gb 3g models). This was to cover the overly priced accessories.
We already have two TPU ebay cases on the way and a this rate they should get here by the time we get our Ipads. These cases are to hold us over until incase, incipio, speck etc get some more models out.

Wait, so there are people who have placed orders back in April for 3g iPads and MacMall still hasn't shipped? I ordered mine earlier this week and the girl said that they would have them in by the 20th at the earliest and the 27th at the latest.
I'm guessing I'm just going to have to get one at Best Buy whenever they get them in (I live 2 hours away from any Apple store).

I had my iPad for three days before paypal hit me up for the payment. I always assumed they would take the money at shipment but not the case this time.
Not just MacMall. Same problem with Macconnection.com. I really think the problem is with Apple though, not the resellers. They are told they will get a shipment, then the demand continues to climb and Apple redirects stock to their own stores and puts the resellers off longer.
Macmall charged me already! I called after purchasing a 32 gig wifi model and they said that "the order's been processed and will ship tomorrow."
If they're giving me the runaround, I'll be upset. I ordered from them after canceling my Apple.com order because they said they were in stock! After placing the order, I logged on, and it said backordered. So much for quality customer service.

I think they have plenty of wifi Ipads available to ship. It's the 3G models that macmall is having a problem with.

I agree. I ordered my 64GB 3G through MacConnection on 4/30. They shipped it on the following Monday. However, it turned out they sent a WiFi model by mistake. That got reversed, and so far my order is still listed as backordered. I called MC, and they said that they only had received WiFis so far. They expect the 3Gs this Friday (hopefully). Funny thing is I already received my Camera Connection kit. The only reason I went through MC is because I live in Cali, and the tax is just not worth it (on top of a $829 item.) Now I'm deciding if I should cancel the Apple case I also ordered do to the bad rep it's getting.

I just cancelled my macmall order for 2 3g 32gb so someone will get bumped hopefully. I picked up 2 at my local university tech store since I am wrapping up a EE degree there. I do not know why I did not check earlier with them. They said they had them for a week now.

I just chatted with MacConnection online. They said Apple told them that they will receive the shipment in the middle of next week (yes, they changed the date again...from coming Friday). I asked where I am standing on the waiting list, and they said they should be fulfill all orders when the shipment arrives...
I placed my order on May 11...the date keeps changing every week...I still have no idea when I will get my iPad...
I just received a formal letter from Macmall in the mail and as everyone has been saying, Macmall has absolutely no idea when they think they'll be receiving the 3G's. The letter mentioned that in similar situations in the past, it took up to 60 days for the orders to be fulfilled. Since they are a reseller, they're pretty much last on the list as far as allocations. With the current shortage of the 3g Ipads as well as the international launch, things are looking grim.
They said it's been delayed to June 2nd again and the funny thing is the guy said not to quote him. I asked him if the wait could spill over into July and he said "That's a possible chance, yeah."
I'm pissed off at Macmall. Not the fact that they have not received any allocations (it's not their fault). But the fact that they have absolutely no clue when they'll receive it and they keep on telling their customers "Oh, it'll be here next week, next week, next week.........." They even acknowledged that it could take up to 2 months for orders to be shipped but why keep on telling us "ohh next week, next week, next week every friggin week." Why even advertise that you have iPads for sale when you have no clue when you'll receive them.
Wasted enough time already and I've put in orders at the Apple store.

I call back this evening and was told that Apple did not ship the items to them, instead they were shipping a crate of 2200 ipad to arrive on Thursday, 27. They hope to ship them by Friday and we would have them June 2, 2010. They may ship on the 27th if they get them unloaded. ( A lot of lying crap). When I reminded him that I paid $15.00 for next day deliverly. Then I should get them the next day. I ordered many items from macmall.com; but this will probably be my last order from Macmall. My inclination now is to order from Apples and see which one ships first. Then cancel the other item.

Yeah, I do believe the salespeople are misleading. If you aren't certain that the item is going to arrive (which is evidenced by the amount of times you have told people before it was going to arrive but yet never did) then why would you still keep telling customers that the item will definitely arrive? It certainly has left a bad taste in your mouth.
I just went ahead and also ordered a 16GB 3g from Apple and while the ship date isn't until June 8th at least I can be fairly certain that it will ship by them, unlike being in the dark with empty promises from MacMall.
I spoke to macconnection today and got a similar story to someone above. There is a shipment that is confirmed on the way and due to arrive Wed. next week. The one thing that is different is that in the past, they have said that they are not sure, Apple is telling them whatever date, but who knows? This time, they are saying shipment is en route. Not holding my breath but this is a different story than I heard about 4/30, 5/14, 5/21 and 5/28.

what model did you order?
I just ordered the 16gb wifi ipad yesterday and the rep told me that they are expecting shipments this friday. I am thinking of just cancelling.
now is it the 3g models that they are short on, or does the shortage extend to the wifi models as well?

Just wanted to add that I ordered an iPad 3G (16GB) from Macconnection in April, and have been getting the "it's a week away" runaround like everyone else since being told it would originally ship on 4/30. I don't think it's their fault, Apple is just being stingy with product, and I can't blame them given demand. And honestly I think most people who ordered from Macconnection/MacMall did so because of sales tax, so I don't think Apple feels too bad about delaying.
They probably shouldn't have taken the orders to begin with, but at this point I'm going to hold on, maybe it's true that the iPads are on their way next week.
I do wish Macconnection did a better job of updating us, I got one email that it would be delayed, everything else has been from me contacting them.

Macconnection order status changed!!!
Just checked the online status again today for my order (3G 32GB) from macconnection. The order changed from "backordered" to "open". Then I chatted online with macconnection, and they said it will be shipped today (finally...)!!! The tracking number will be e-mailed to me once it shipped!!! Looking forward to my new toy~~

I just ordered a 16gb wifi iPad from MacMall about half an hour ago, and it's supposed to be here tomorrow! . This, after calling them almost daily for two weeks straight and hearing there were none in stock, and no word of when they might be. Glad I called again today.

I wonder if the call center is in India. Today the guy says they expect the Ipad 3G June 2nd. Yesterday it was the 28th of May. More lying on macmall part. I just got tired of their fibs and ordered from Apple also. Expected ship date is June 11th. When I see either order ship, I will cancel the other order. Unless they ship on the same day.

MacMall shipped the iPad I ordered a few hours ago. After reading some of these posts, I was worried maybe I would keep getting delayed or something. ETA is by 4:30 tomorrow. Thanks, MacMall.
Macmall have plenty of Ipad wifi in stock. Just don't try to get a 3G+Wifi. That is what they have been lying to me about.

Yes, I paid the $20-some extra dollars for overnight shipping. I still saved money in sales tax, so it was not too bad. I'm very excited, too. (This is the iPad I have finally found for a certain loved one who could not have mine.)
