Well they see every product update as an opportunity to find new ways of increasing their margins to show growth in the earnings call & keep the investor money train rolling in. So yeah increasing prices, but cutting costs too, by removing every physical component they can, specifying old components rather than new, preventing hardware maintenance & upgrades, locking users in to the ecosystem. I thought I was waiting for a new iPad but now think I’m really waiting for new management.

Don't worry about that, the A17 Pro chip for example is more advanced than the M1/M2 chip. The next Mini should be getting the A17 Pro or A18 and 8GB RAM which will be great for gaming, video editing, media consumption etc.
The A series is far less power hungry for a device with a small battery.

Thanks for clarifications - I have not understood the technical differences between the A chips and the M chips since most of the iPads started getting the M ones. Sounds like the relationship to battery size and power consumption is the primary difference.

The M chips are basically upscaled A chips, by adding 2 extra performance cores. So the M1 is based on the A14, M2 on the A15, M3 on the A17 Pro etc. Those 2 extra performance cores on the M chips produce more heat so are suited to ipads and macs better, as they have larger frames to deal with the heat. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks! So if that tracks…we presume the next ipad mini will effectively be the a18 bionic (what will be in the iphone 16 pro)? the previous ipad mini had the same chip as the the iphone 13 pro and was released around the same time.

I’ve got an IPP 9.7 with a battery that’s still at 94%. $65 for the trade-in, might be time for an upgrade 🤔
 That $65 trade-in value (suggested during the buy) has turned into $5 after they have received due to "white spots on the screen." Can't say I saw any, also I guess the operative word is "suggested." Maybe having the same screen protector on it for 7 years caused something that wasn't obvious to the nekked eye.

Have to say though Apple I'm feeling a bit undervalued rn
