pro is a lower powered device.. but.. you seem to have the 128pro, so you want to defend it and thats fine. its a good device, even if its slower than the air5
I’m gonna stop writing about this, as its pointless… you come up with some arbitrary reasons - that are simply simarised as nice to haves, but you seem to like those nice to haves over the speed of the Air5 drive, so , cool :) more power to you!

its a bit meaningless to continue discussin this, I’d say.
we should focus on how much better ipad in general is - compared to android, for instance, not if pro128 stillo makes any sence when air5 256 exists

Well, I have a 9.7" Pro so I have no reason to defend either of the iPads discussed, but I'm guessing you have the 256GB Air so...

But your claiming device bias is a great way to say that you don't like that I'm correct; both the 256GB Air and 128GB Pro are the superior 11" iPads depending on what your needs and priorities are. For someone who illustrates, the faster refresh rate is not a nice to have any more than a faster SSD is.

Objectively, the 256GB Pro is superior to both of them.

I think you meant to write 16Gigs - Per App - every few seconds, using Virtual Swap.

What are we debating here? If you want power get the air, if you want added niceties go for the pro. Its pretty empiric

Even swap on desktops don’t work like that. That would pretty much kill the SSD in months.

Overall performance difference is negligible between the 128GB Pro 11 and 256GB Air 5. Heck, I have 512GB Pro 10.5, 256GB Air 3, 256GB mini 6, 256GB Air 4 and 1TB M1 Pro 11. Only the Pro 10.5 is noticeably slower. The 3-4GB RAM iPads reload more often but other than that, I don’t notice much difference for everyday tasks from A12 to M1.

You go for the Pro 11 for features, Air 5 if you want either TouchID or larger storage at lower price.

Personally, I would go for the iPad Pro over the Air because I like ProMotion, the speakers, and Face ID over Touch ID.

No desperate need for an iPad, but my eldest has stolen my old pro iPad for Uni lectures, should I wait for the new pro iPads that are now slightly overdue, or just get the 11" pro 256 I have in my basket?

Nobody thinks that an iPad Pro upgrade is overdue. They're most typically refreshed every 18 months or so, and this edition is about 13 months old. If you need an iPad now, then buy it. If not, wait.
