Ok, so I just tested this on my 12.9 and iPad mini 6, the creak is there on all 3 devices.. this is such a "go look for it" story that it's not even funny.

This is a non-issue unless you're trying to create it.

Or perhaps your device is just built to a better quality. My second go around with the Air 5 seems fine. I’m so sick of getting crap for addressing an issue that is clearly present on a quite expensive device.

Exactly right.

Don’t let people minimize issues that you are experiencing.

I do not understand the sycophantic defense of Apple around here.
They are a company manufacturing zillions of devices and mistakes happen

It's not ideal but it's a thin device, other devices with the same form factor do it as well.. so are all of my devices lemons? I've had my 12.9 ipad pro almost a year and didn't notice until today

I took mine back. When I wrote on the iPad with the Apple Pencil, I would get random blurry marks from the weak or “hollow” areas inside the device. I don’t have that problem with my 12.9” iPad Pro or my iPad mini 6.

Good to know, I haven’t tried this. We’re you using a screen protector at all? This would definitely be a game breaker

You should get over your OCD and bear with it. Creaking is normal in electronics as long as there is no visible broken seams, etc… you’ll be fine. I can assure you that the iPad you have will not fall apart in 5-10 years and you will be able to enjoy it until it’s a redundant piece of hardware.
Get over your OCD? I won't respond saying what I want to say as I'm sure the Mods would delete it, but I will say...nope, won't say that either...

I actually want to reverse my previous posts, I don't believe the creak to be an issue personally, my issue is the weird feedback/flickering on the screen when pressed especially with apple pencil that doesn't exist on my other devices. There's definitely something funky with this build. She's going back, as much as I love the performance. Sticking with my mini 6

As someone with a family member with severe OCD with life-altering impacts, I've always found the casual, flippant usage of the term to be offensive. Real OCD is a disability, not something you "just get over".

I had a UAG (Urban Armor Gear) case for my older Mini, like below and it is a good solid case with not much weight. For those looking for some protection and support, maybe this is an option?

any photos of this flickering? is it distortion?

It is too bad they could not of made it a little more rigid with different metal or a little more thickness. I am sure there was lots of options to improve, but voted out its good enough. I wonder how many stress testing to hear the noise will actual cause a fatigue to the weak point and actually create the problem? Which can't be undone.

That was a big reason I returned. My 10.5" iPad Pro had the white spot of doom after less than a year - I fear that issue is going to be huge on the Air 5 in a few months for most people

Lol, for all I know I might be that family member you're talking about. I don't understand people using OCD and PTSD as jokes.

These iPads should have never gotten out of the factory creaking.

I don't think it's consistent across devices. And it even seems to vary across time.

After I ordered the iPad Pro, I went several days without noticing the issue at all, and actually considered canceling the Pro order. But then it happened again, and it just isn't something that can be ignored — nor was it something I was looking for, since I'd already made the decision.

I wonder if the person on here who thought it might have to do with temperature might be on to something?
