The swipe with 3 fingers on trackpad to quickly switch between full-screen apps with trackpad no longer works and it was something I used all the time when connected to a keyboard/trackpad. Any way to re-enabled it?

They brought Terminal.app to the iPad?
Seriously?
The everyday persons doesn’t use Terminal.
I’ve done a lot with it on macOS before I made the jump to iPadOS and iPad only life, but I never felt the need for it on iPadOS.
My best friend who doesn’t want go iPad only and has been running with a Mac since 2006 has never even used Terminal before.

So yes, the line has faded. A specific OS need is only relevant if your need a specific application that does not run or isn’t made for any other OS. That has been the case for as long as we have different OS’s.

But if you think your use case is mainstream, be my guest.

The lack of a true simultaneous audio and the absence of clamshell mode when connected to an external monitor stop me for using my iPad as a true full ledge computer replacement. But yeah, for what I see, the improvements for windows and files are noticeable. Also, the addition of the journal and phone app is a nice add on I didn't see coming.
What do you mean by simultaneous audio?

That still works for me.

Then let's try a more mainstream one. They finally let us see the whole URL in mobile Safari?
Again a nice. (I use it, and would think its helpful, but a nice non the less)
Try again.

If you tap the address bar, it shows the full URL. Also works on the iPhone. Some people will never be happy with iPad OS and should just stay with a MacBook.😉

I hope I'm not misreading the previews this far, but I'm assuming the 2018 1TB/6GB RAM iPad Pro will get all the multitasking features, right? Is the existing external monitor/stage manager limitation removed? I get that I won't get the AI stuff, which isn't an issue for me.
The multitasking features DO NOT include extended display support. Just like stage manager on that iPad, which I own, did not include that.

Just a few of the apps available for that...

I don’t think so… but hey, the “bar” is still there, the menus are there. But the “bar” is now invisible.
That’s why I said they got rid of the menu bar. But the menus remain. Just like they were added to the iPad now.

By the way. The way macOS looks now, without an actual bar (or a transparent bar) has been visible sometimes on much earlier versions, such as Big Sur or Monterey, when the bar didn’t load up and all there was, was the menus… maybe they were preparing this all this time? Or maybe they decided to kill that bug by outright getting rid of the bar itself.

I still remember when it went from opaque (grey) to translucent, to even more translucent, to finally… no bar, just the menus floating around.
Oh, thanks for this. I remember now but I think I installed something or changed a setting to change it back.

Make menu bars grey again!

To be honest, with the launch of MacBook with a notch, and how grossly thick the menu bar appeared on them, I think it was a matter of time to see macOS redesigned getting rid of the bar itself, just the menus floating around.

I’m still not sure I like it… I still have to watch how they behave and how the menus look when unfolded, while being used (I could look it up now either here on the forum or in YouTube to be honest, I’ll do that later), but I guess it was only a matter of time, as many, many macOS concepts that reimagined how would be the future look of the system, most of them chose to get rid of the menu bar and leave just the menus.

I believe the new multitasking features will work with every iPad that runs iPadOS 26. 👍🏻

What do you mean by simultaneous audio?
I mean when you listen music or a podcast episode and just want to click a video on Safari. When you do that the music or podcast will automatically stop in the background and you have to manually go back to the app tops play again. This is something I never understood why they do this for mobile devices when computer can handle this since forever. For me, it's completely against productivity as I often listen live radio and want to watch some video without the need to actually listen it. Also, with this current state, the background audio will occasionally stop when visiting some random websites or opening certain apps.

So for me, this alone is a major dealbreaker to use my iPad as my main computer.

One thing you could possibly do is just photoshop a translucent strip on the top of the wallpaper you’re using, which would add the Menu Bar background back. 👍🏻.

I install it because I have a spare iPad so its almost no risk at all to do it. I say almost because there's always a tiny chance the update brick the device (ipadOS 18 on M4 pro last year) but other than that, the worse thing that could happen is just wiping it and go back to iPadOS 18.

The thing I'll never understand is people installing early beta on their main phones. I mean...I rely too much on my phone for taking the risk of installing a dev beta on it and potentially have problem with receiving calls and such like it frequently happened over the years. But like I've said, if you have any spare device laying around, there's no reason why you shouldn't try it.

As bad as I want to (and I really, really want toView attachment 2518304View attachment 2518306), I don't have enough nerve to load the developer beta on my iPad. I have always had good results with the public betas' though, so anxiously awaiting them. In the meantime, I'll watch (with envyView attachment 2518314) all you brave folk that have loaded it.View attachment 2518311View attachment 2518310

Here, too - I'll wait for the public beta for more stability.
