The moddifide VGA cable is $65 USD. The modified VGA cable with charger and extention is $75 USD.

First off I would like to thank everyone who has shown intrest in my VGA cable. I like to help others when I can.
Currently, I have taken up more time (vulun-draft) at work and I have been left with very little time to build these cables and tend to other projects that I also have. The VGA cables are some what difficult to build as they require a lot of driving and searching of the parts and my time has cut short due to my job. So in short, I will still provide the service of building the cables if anyone needs them. It will just take a little more time for me to get them out (4-7 days). The price of the cables are for parts and shipping cost (in the USA). Any donations are appreciated. Also I would like to add, I use all apple hardware. The construction of the USB wire is strong and has a steel braided wire that helps keep the wire intact.
If anyone has any other questions, feel free to ask.

Is it possible for one of these cables to have the vga running AND have an external source control the iphone?
ex. I want to setup a display in my car that i have a touch screen mounted to it but can listen to music through the car speakers and also control the iphone through the deck as well?
(and yes, i'm fully aware i can just buy a fully loaded display car deck, but i have decided to build one for fun )

This is possible and there are kits to do this. This is one place that has parts to do this. http://www.customgadz.com They have the app that's Bluetooth and communicates with a Bluetooth module that is connected to a screen and digitizer. Pretty neat if you ask me.

I am a high school teacher from Ontario and I just can't stud my iPad dying on me during lessons. I use it for keynotes, google earth, video clips, etc and it absolutely kills my battery throughout the day.
I already have a relatively new VGA dongle and plenty of old USB cords. I'd love to try the mod myself but I haven't soldered since high school and I just don't trust myself. My classes resume the first week of September, is there any way to pay for your skills to build it? I know you said you are very busy these days, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

As a follow up, I no longer need a cable. I decided you don't learn without doing and cracked it open to solder it up. To my total surprise, it actually works.
To those thinking of doing this, but you're afraid of soldering, do not worry about it. The wires are very small to work with, I grant you that, but you can pull it off. If you have any experience with this, it's not too bad.

Hi I just bought a vga adapter today, I then found this site and thread. I got mine all apart. But my solder iron isnt tiny to make the connections. What would it take to have it finished? And how long would it take? Thanks

It's a bit of a relief that Apple learned their lesson and gave the new Lightning-to-VGA adapters a pass-through for charging.
@Noxide400 or any body who knows. If all i want is to make it charge wouldn't i only need the red and black wires? I have soldered before but this is small lol. Am going to look for different solder gun after work today.
