Thanks for the heads up. Not familiar with their quality butI just ordered one as well.

Have a stupid question but... can the New Mini 4 Case and Cover be combined?? Not sure why Apple is not selling the Smart Case for the Mini 4 or does buying both make it a Smart Case and this makes Apple Smart to make more money?

Ofcourse it can :)

Thanks that is what I now figured out. I bought on line this past weekend the new 4 case in anticipation of picking up my mini 4 at the Apple Store (which I am doing tonight) I thought it would be like the smart case of the previous models. So the dilemma is do I buy the matching cover or return the back half and buy a knock off on Amazon??

Well, thats up to you and your wallet. the Apple product will be perfect. The knockoff will probably fit just fine.
Personally, I received a 6 dollar knockoff yesterday from Amazon, just to have something to put my device in while waiting for Apple to produce a Leather case. Heres hopeing they do.
I usually use mine naked, but wanted something to protect it while carrying it in a bag.

I have used The Joy Factory Smart Suit silver/white case on my original Mini and Mini 2. I love it, best case I've ever used on any device. I've written to them asking if they are going to offer one for the Mini 4. Holding off on getting the Mini 4 for now, the 2 is chugging away just fine.

I like this (played with one at the Apple Store yesterday) and now wish they had something similar for the Air 2…the silicone cases are my current favorites for the iPhone 6/6s.

We have new protective silicone cases exclusively for iPad Mini 4.... nice, very nice Apple :)

How is this silicone case even going to work given that both of the microphone holes are completely blocked? iPad Mini 4 has two microphones: one is on the side directly above the up volume button, and the other is next to the iSight camera on the back. Unlike third party cases, Apple case does not have any cut outs for the microphones (at least based on the available pictures). If anyone has installed this silicone case, can you please confirm if your microphone works? Thank you.

BTW, Apple has bogus images on their web site hinting that there could be a microphone on the front just to the left of the FaceTime camera.

This is inaccurate. The actual iPad Mini 4 does not have a microphone next to the FaceTime camera on the front. Perhaps, at one point Apple was planning to put a microphone there, which would be perfectly logical for Facetime audio and video. Had this actually happened, the silicone case would only obstruct the rear microphone making it hard to record movies with the back camera. But Facetime would still work.

Could someone in possession of the new silicon case for iPad Mini 4 clarify the situation please? Thank you.

There is a microphone hole in the back of the silicone case next to the camera lens.

How are you finding it is holding up with finger marks and lint? I purchased the midnight blue smart cover for my mini 4 yesterday but held off on the back firstly due to the price (I think it should cost the same as the front) and secondly my silicone case for my iPhone 6 was a greasy finger mark and lint magnet! Still a little tempted to try one.

Wish that the midnight blue leather smart case I had for my Mini 2 fitted. I think they deliberately altered the size to make people buy new cases...

Fine so far. It does show smudges, but they also wipe away easily. Haven't seen much lint, but I haven't carried the iPad around in a bag yet.

Oh, and with regards to the speaker holes, there is also another opening in the Apple silicone case above the volume buttons. Those are both missing entirely from the apple store images, but they exist in the real case

Yup, no leather case. The mini has never had leather offered. Still un loved. :(
all minis had leather smart case made by Apple except Mini 4.
it's sad..the silicone case + smart cover costs much more, and is not nearly as nice as a smart case.disappointing.

Its overpriced but awesome!.... i cant understand why they didnt make sth similar for Air 2.

So far I'm really enjoying the case and cover for the mini 4. Definitely could be priced a bit better but for me it was worth it. The quality is great, as usual, and the fact that I can pull off the cover and use the iPad with just the back case for games and whatever without having the cover flapping around really sold me on it.

And you dont feel the heat :p

Does the back cover make the device a lot thicker and heavier ?

Not true, I've got the leather smart case for the mini 2 - it's actually a great case and I would happily of bought similar for the mini 4. In saying that, I got the same case for the Air 2 and returned it as it was quite deep and not a perfect fit - it made the Air 2 much thicker than it needed to be.
I did not find an Apple branded leather case for the mini when I first got my device in November - 2 years ago. I stand corrected as they are offered now. Possibly they werent offered at launch or I couldnt find them.
Maybe they will offer them in the near future for the Mini 4.

I don't like that case because the hard part which holds iPad in place became weak near bottom and caused my iPad mini 2 to fall out and smash on the ground.

I have just given in and gone to the Apple Store and purchased a Midnight Blue back case to go with the Midnight Blue Smart Cover.

Yes it is over priced which is why I hesitated, but initial impressions are very good. The slight overlap of the Smart Cover on its own makes sense with the case on and the extra magnets in the back which stop the cover flapping around when using the iPad are great.

If you hate the look of cheap cases ruining your iPad looks and can get over the high price I would recommend this case. Hope that helps someone.

i looked on ebay and it seems the third party sellers think the 4 is the same as the 2 and 3.
At this point, I think Apple has the only case of any kind available.. I dont like the feel of silicone cases. Too bad they are not offering leather. Again.

Best Buy too, I noticed a number of cases for the mini 2/3 with "Fits mini 4" stickers stuck on them::confused:.
