i looked on ebay and it seems the third party sellers think the 4 is the same as the 2 and 3.
At this point, I think Apple has the only case of any kind available.. I dont like the feel of silicone cases. Too bad they are not offering leather. Again.
Best Buy too, I noticed a number of cases for the mini 2/3 with "Fits mini 4" stickers stuck on them::confused:.

The world is starting to know the difference now and more are available from third party sellers.

There are plenty of cases now available specifically for the mini 4 although mostly of the cheaper variety. They have actually been quite quick in getting new cases ready after the launch.

I am still on the fence about the 4. I stopped by an Apple store here to check out the cases in person. I have to say I really don't like the feel of the silicone cases, and I don't really like the color selection, either. (YMMV, obviously). Where I'm at right now is that a couple of the upgrades from my Mini 2 would be nice (better display, Touch ID) but those are only nice, not compelling, and the new case is such a turn-off that I may pass and save myself quite a few hundreds in the process. On the case, think about it: what part of the iPad are your hands in contact with the most? Hint: it's not the screen. ;)

For me, the screen and 2GB RAM make it a worthwhile update - these were the two key factors. The extras such as Touch ID, smaller, lighter chassis, better performance and improved cameras all add up to make it a compelling one for me. I liked the Mini 2 but I genuinely love the 4.

I do not like the feel of the Apple polycrap either. It irritates my dry skin to even hold one.
However, I use a clear skin from Skinomi on the back giving the iPad a naked feel with a grip, and I do buy the Apple front cover in grey and put a black iCarbon skin on the cover giving it a custom look and acceptable feel. I did this on my Mini 2 and have a set on order for my Mini 4 - I will buy the cover on Monday.
The application is a dry one, it applies very easily and has lasted on the mini 2 (and an Air 1 cover) for 2 years with no signs of it ever peeling off. 12.99 added to the cover is not really acceptable but the original Apple cover has magnets that hold well. I bought a couple of knockoffs from eBay and the magnets were weak.
You get what you pay for I guess.

Don't give up on me yet, I haven't! ;) And yes, the 2GB RAM would also be (should have been) on my list of nice updates, with the screen and Touch ID. I initially thought Touch ID was a gimmick, but I access my work email on my iPads and we require a strong unlock code, so the Touch ID is convenient for my particular uses.

I had the Mini 1, Mini 2 and now the 4 - I love it. The weight, power and laminated screen make it well worth the upgrade.

I saw them, a complete rip off.
You have to buy two halves and they are not even nice leather this time.

i tend to use the laptop, if i travel i take the full iPad still.

The funny thing is that originally I was sort of if-fy on the one-piece leather cases. However, I've come to really like them. They're relatively thin and light, and they've done a very good job of protecting an Air, Air 2 and Mini 2. The store had some demo cases out that you could handle...they just felt wrong. We shall see...
