I know if I had bought an iPad I would be a little upset that the iPads arent getting OS 4 until fall, anyone else upset about this. I really dont see how this makes any sense.
Not at all and am wondering why you are?

You'd be upset because? Apple made no promises about when iPhone 4.0 would ship for the iPad before the iPad launched. In fact they didn't even mention iPhone 4.0 at all.

Of course this doesn't make any sense to you because you don't understand Apple. The iPad team was quarantined from the rest of Apple. So while the iPhone OS team was developing 4.0 they didn't know the deets about the iPad until the rest of us. That is how secretive Apple is. Now does it make sense?
Well said.

But I don't think that the OP will agree.

So you're asking this question in the fervent hope that everyone else will be just as upset as you might potentially be?

Did you happen to read the EULA? It does actually mention future upgrades.

I really couldn't care less about most of the so-called "new" features. I certainly don't see iAds as a feature. It's more of a curse. I don't care about App "folders" either. iPad already does everything in 3.2 that 4.0 does that I would want, except multi-tasking.

But I am upset that I do have to wait until Fall for a feature that should have been included since the start, the half-assed multi-tasking.

I guess I was the only one who broke down and cried like a baby....kicking and screaming....cursing the name of Steve Jobs. ;)

But seriously, he'll no I'm not upset and you seem to be just trying to bait this forum with such an asinine question like that. We'll get it when it's ready. In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the iPad (if you bought one).

If you are seriously upset about this, I'd hate to see how mad you get when a REAL problem comes up.

Sure, I love to have it now, but I bought it knowing what the features were and that it might not ecer have multitasking, so no I'm nit upset... Actually the way I use my iPad, multitasking isn't very important to me anyway.

it raised an eyebrow when they said iPad will get 4.0 in Fall, but I'm not upset at all.
Like others have said I'm happy with the iPad NOW. There are still a few updates between now and 4.0 as well. I would say at least two for sure.
The first one should be along in a few weeks to address first run bugs. I'm sure we can expect at least one more around summer time.

Again, nothing to be upset about. Love my iPad as is.

I'm kind of bummed out that they're making iPad owners wait that long to get the update. I certainly wish it were sooner, but what can you do?

I just hope it means that the iPad gets a few extras thrown in when the update finally hits.

well my point isnt that they dont get the update until then, I would be upset because the iPhone is getting it months earlier.

Probably because the iPad needs different tweaks and has to be compiled for a different processor? Seems fine to me, it'll be free. I'll be able to get used to it first on my iPhone 3GS, why would anyone be upset?

Ipad is not Iphone. Iphone is not Ipad.

Pizza is not brown rice. Pizza is pizza.

Ipad is Ipad

Did you buy an iPad? Do you intend to buy one? If not, what are you complaining about?

Why? Because there will be an upgrade?

Seems a pretty silly thing to get upset about.

I'm enjoying mine just fine, and if it becomes more capable in the Fall, even better!

I agree!! It takes time to convert the iPhone version of the 4.0 to iPad version due to the difference in pixels. The iPhone calender does not look the iPad calender, etc. So, the software conversion for every features will take time and debugging as well. What they showed us is the iPhone version. I am patient! I just wanna play with the iPad and the new apps.

We already have half the features listed anyways. Not upset at all.

Ah, Generation Y.

And if he had been a member of the "greatest generation" or a "boomer" he would has said "too bad we can't take the update from future users and have it all for ourselves now".

Seriously, this is OT (but I guess you started it), I'm getting sick of the Gen Y bashing that's so popular these days. At 30, I'm not even a "member" but I'll stick up for them. The boomers and their parents have spent the last 60 years accumulating wealth a the expense of their children and grandchildren, are now spending their "golden years" complaining how no one should get social benefits, like health care or cash payments, from the government... except them of course; "don't take away my medicare or cut my social security payments!" uttered from the same lips screaming "how dare you suggest we pay for health care or unemployment benefits for lazy bums who don't have jobs!"

But, heaven forbid young people should call them out... they fought TWO world wars! That makes them GREAT!

To the OPs point though, no, I'm not upset. If they roll out a new iPad before the end of the year with more RAM (I don't care if they change the price or add storage capacity options) I will be pissed, though. I feel like part of the agreement with Apple is that they can build their totally closed hardware with no upgrade options, but they have to provide a pretty stable release schedule as well so users aren't getting "stuck" on old hardware too often.

Actually no, as this will give Apple more time to perfect it. Think Expose and Dashboard. For reals.

Be thankful that Apple works so hard to deliver free OS upgrades to you. You don't deserve crap, and therefore have no right to be upset. Nobody does.

Also, people who think this will come out in September: keep dreaming! When Apple sets a season for a release date, you can bet they mean the latter half at best. December 17? Maybe not that late, but probably right before Black Friday for holiday sales. Remember Push Notifications? Those were supposed to be a 2.x update that Autumn, didn't show up until 3.0 the next summer. Doubt that will happen here since it will already be working on iPhone, but don't get your hopes up. Be realistic.

Oh gimme a Break! It just came out 6 days ago! Try and have some patience.

We shipped on saturday, and we rested on sunday.

Not to worry.

Actually, that's exactly what this forum user is trying to do.

It could be worse. You could have an Android device and be stuck indefinitely on an old version of the OS.
