Upset? No, why?

I was happy enough with the iPad OS to buy it. I can wait for improvements.

Uhm... Nah. The 4.0 stuff is nifty and all, but nothing overly exciting for me. Single inbox is nice, folders will be handy, multitasking... Meh. I will wait to update until I see how it goes. Still leery of iAds and what that means. I have crappy DSL, and want every kbps supporting content and not magical blinking flashing annoying ads in my app.

Seriously, this is OT (but I guess you started it), I'm getting sick of the Gen Y bashing that's so popular these days. At 30, I'm not even a "member" but I'll stick up for them.

1st of all, back away from the keyboard and relax. Go take a walk or something. 2nd, the original comment was hardly bashing. No where NEAR it.

It could be worse. You could have an Android device and be stuck indefinitely on an old version of the OS.

ZING!

I don't know if it's the Gen Y thing or just the general petulance of nerds... but we just got a pretty cool device that's unlike anything else out there. Why can't people enjoy what they have without complaining about an update to something that isn't even a week old?

Certainly I wish it was a simultaneous release, but I understand why it isn't. I'm sure the new iPhone w/ 4.0 will keep my gadget lust satisfied enough to avoid cutting my wrists at waiting until fall.

I know if I had bought an iPad I would be a little upset that the iPads arent getting OS 4 until fall, anyone else upset about this. I really dont see how this makes any sense.
Not at all, I'm happy to see OS 4, even if it's later than it will be for the iPhone. Particularly with multi-tasking :)

Ah, Generation Y.

When you were a kid, and heard about Columbus sailing the ocean blue, when you thought about how long that probably took him, did you think "dang, that must have taken forever, I can't imagine."

While at the time Mr. Columbus thought, "Man, these ships are so high-tech! We're gonna be cruising to [the Americas]." If Columbus rode on a plane today, and it was delayed 2 hours, while everyone was else is pissing and moaning, he'd say "WTF! In my day we had to sail the OCEAN BLUE! The flight is only 12 hours! Whats another 2?! KIDS THESE DAYS!

This is kinda the same situation. Except from the baby boomers to generation Y, technology has progressed much farther than from Columbus' day to the baby boomer generation. Thus, you should have even LESS of a REASON to criticize.

We shipped on saturday, and we rested on sunday. Not to worry. Actually, that's exactly what this forum user is trying to do.

Haha, I can't believe you just joined in January and were able to secure the name "iDisk". I guess that just goes to show how nobody actually likes iDisk! Well, it can be useful, but usually its just slow slow slow!

I know if I had bought an iPad I would be a little upset that the iPads arent getting OS 4 until fall, anyone else upset about this. I really dont see how this makes any sense.

The reason is likely because OS4 has been in development for months and months and months by one team, but the iPad has been in development for years in complete secret - the vast majority of Apple software and hardware engineers etc didn't even know it existed, let alone how it worked, before the January unveiling.

The iPhone OS team will have been working on it for iPad since January, if not more recently, and therefore there'll be a delay getting it out the door.

It's not exactly the end of the world.
