Depends upon the model (and assuming it is new). 32GB 1st gen? meh. 128GB, *I* would be all over it. That's a great savings on an iPad that is still a beast.

32GB refurb 1st gen from apple vs 64GB 2nd gen. Would like go alongside my 9.7 (which I use much more for travelling and mobility). 128GB 1st gen refurb is about $200 savings vs 64GB 2nd gen. For the use it’ll get, 64GB is more than enough storage. I can expense part of the purchase though, so the savings do shrink. Of all the new features I really wouldn’t mind true tone after getting so used to it on the 9.7.

How is the beta working for you so far on the 9.7? Think it would be okay to use on my 10.5 next week?

Working quite well for a beta 1. I’d be tempted to try it on a 10.5. However, a new device is exciting, and then getting iOS 11 in September would make it feel like a new device all over again.

Knowing myself, I won't be waiting until September. It will be on there Tuesday night haha.

Is this true with it running iOS 11? Just wondering if the 10.5 won't hit full stride until iOS 11. Any testers had that opportunity yet? I'm considering upgrading from my Pro 9.7 but waiting to get a hands-on and read reviews and also the inevitable sale in 4-6 weeks once the early adopter base is satiated. But for the Ferrari premium price Apple is asking it needs to glide through all the gears smoothly and not gimped in any way. This is not a budget or entry level model.

It's definitely annoying but I don't think it's a deal breaker coming from a 9.7", and hopefully it's fixed in software.

I'm going to assume the 12.9" won't have it as it has a much larger on screen keyboard with a number row. Tried out the key flicking on my 9.7, works nicely.

I was really disappointed finding out, that 10.5 still has this compact layout, which is really uncomfortable to work with. My bad, since in all reviews regarding 10.5 i read "introduces full-size on-screen keyboard" as keyboard layout identical to 12,9 (albeit smaller of course). And it turned out that keys are and spacing between them are of full-size.

Is there any way to enable real full-size keyboard (with numeric rows, and symbols and stuff) on 10.5 iPad?

What is this key flicking? Is this ios11 stuff...having the symbols on the keys?

Thanks, I'm looking into the iOS beta program now. Problem is, they need me to enter a verification number first. Well, my other device is powered off and not in the bathroom where I have been done pooping for awhile now, but like to sit on the throne for reasons unknown to me. :/

I wasn't aware of this and I'm a little disappointed. So far I've not needed split screen, but it was a feature that helped justify the purchase of the new iPad Pro in the first place. So far the 10.5 has been a fantastic tablet and I've had it for under a week now. Hmmm, I wonder if this will push me to the 12.9 tablet.

That seems to be the consensus with the reviews I've read. It seems that the iOS 11 beta is buggy at the moment, otherwise, I would have installed it on my iPad pro

I just read the entire thread but I’m still confused whether I should go with the 10.5 or 12.9 inch model. Can anyone give me concrete examples of apps that would slow down your workflow if they are not using the regular class aka iPad UI? It would be really helpful. Thanks!

Yes, it's very beta. I put it on my mini mule and yipes. Def. would not install it at this point on any device you depended on.
I tried it for a couple days...running and screaming back to iOS 10.

-dock is buggy
-animations are buggy
-new video fullscreen mode in Safari is HOT TRASH (scrubbing bar @ bottom and 50% smaller, buttons scattered in all four corners, etc)
-control center's an explosion of psychosis
-the brightness slider's 50% smaller and much harder to make smaller changes, sometimes takes two presses, and typically took me three times the amount of time to get right
-accessing the control center takes a swipe up that's nearly half the screen
-slow and laggy

I think its just visually different, I'm not sure it will have that sort of impact on your workflow
