Oh yes. It’s the app, I’m sure of it. Even reinstalled the game to make sure.

Yeah I just fired up Altos Adventure as I have that to test, definitely not as smooth as it should be on my 11 inch iPad, even just the scroll down of the title screen has quite a few micro stutters whereas on my iPhone X I couldn’t detect any stutters, I guess their game engine isn’t the most optimised, at least for higher resolutions.

Thanks for confirming. I’m amazed the devs haven’t addressed it. They’re usually on top of this sort of thing.

My 11” gizmo is coming tomorrow afternoon.
I have reduced my iOS usage to that which does not completely infuriate: Notability, Graphic, Netflix, Numbers, Calendar, and the older Skype for iPhone app, which lets you shrink the ui down and leave everything around it dead space, so you don’t accidentally tap it and honk in your listeners ear or terminate the call.

If any of those don’t work I will throw a tantrum that makes a 2yo look like Marcus Aurelius.

Got to wonder if they have one, since iOS 11 the bad decisions and bugs in the YouTube app have been quite irritating.

Even so I like this update SO much better. Having the time and other information display at the top when I was in fullscreen mode was really distracting for me.

Oh indeed, they also appear to have fixed the share sheet bug I also posted about, so that’s something too, took their sweet time.

At least google seems to be on it, YouTube is halfway there, and google drive was also updated recently. As opposed to FACEBOOK, which doesn’t seem to care at all.

What makes me the most angry though is a few German apps that I‘m using, one of the ARD the main public television, that relaunched their app in a completely new design yesterday, not supporting Th new iPads. Facepalm!
And the other one being my banking app, called Finanzblick. I was writing back and forth with their support and they seriously claimed that they LIKED the black bars at top and bottom and intend to keep them as a design feature. Stunning stupidity!

"Oh yeah, I've got digital National Geographic magazines on my new iPad now with my paper subscription"

...

Besides the fact that my Dutch subscription only gets me PDF-style magazines instead of those actual digital magazines in the US, this apps hasn't been updated for over a year and just looks awful on my 11". I can see why it comes free with a paper subscription now (US edition paper + digital costs extra I believe).

For me the most annoying thing about the 11 inch is that even though it's now longer in portrait and there is plenty of space, you still don't get the row of numeric keys on the onscreen keyboard that is reserved for the 12.9 only.

This is sort of beside the point, but for me Notability by itself would probably justify buying an iPad.

Be inconsistent for it to show in portrait but not landscape.

It's weird. Search, drive, and docs have been updated but maps and Gmail haven't.

Hate the larger onscreen predictive keyboard when using Smart Keyboard.

Hate no longer having micro fibre cover when keyboard case is closed - 11inch is fully of finger prints.

Miss the old smart connector

I would imagine because they didn't want to make the device wider (in portrait).
then make it a little less tall in portrait? What I am saying it is inconceivable
to me why they abandoned their template aspect ratio for one device. It
makes zero sense.

That would have meant a smaller Smart Keyboard which they were reluctant to do, since the 10.5 version was better received than the 9.7 one, which many regarded as too small for effective typing.

best answer i've seen so far

Finally, but they decided to replace it with this:

This YouTube iOS team are muppets.

And they finally fixed this with today’s update, ok, now I hope the comments loading delay is also gone that they introduced a while ago.

Edit: and they broke it again.
